I’m crossing my fingers that Clark can have a 2006 Jason Ferguson type impact and maybe show the other DT’s a bit how to play the game.

This is a silver lining to all this

Oh, bullshit.

I know it was a negotiating tactic, but he literally asked for a trade. Now he's going act like, "whaaaat? They traded me?"

Secondly, he's neglecting to mention that he went to Dallas and gave them a chance to negotiate a contract deal that Green Bay offered without having the actual right to offer without it being tampering. That's supposed to be ok? A deal, by the way, that was way above market.

Obviously him saying he was willing to take a below market deal to stay was a flat out lie. You don't hire the agent he has without wanting an earth shattering deal. He's always been full of shit apparently.

Fuck him and the agent he rode in on.

$46 mil per for a guy who disappears in big games. This absurd contract would have strangled our cap for years.
Apparently I'm one of the few who isn't pissed about it. Yeah, we should've got more in the deal. But I'll take it anyway
I am not as pissed but just relieved.

I have a problem with the compensation, but we kind of sorta seen that coming.

Deal would have made sense for like two firsts, a second, two thirds and a few late round picks along with the DT. Maybe throw em back like a 5th.
There's not a snowball's chance in hell we would have got that much.

I hope this doesn’t put too much pressure on Ezeiruaku to do more than he should be doing as a rookie. Dallas has plenty of pass rushers and should be able to generate enough pressure to be at least middle of the pack.

My biggest concern remains whether or not we can stop the run

Jason Ferguson impact?

You set a low bar, Ravi.
2006 Ferguson— Hell I’ll take that any day from a 30 year old vet. Clarks been a pro-bowler but he’s coming off his worst year. I’m being hopeful, and it’s better than anything we’ve had since that year.

I think Micah’s attitude rubbed the Cowboys the wrong way on top of whatever stance his agent took, to be frank. The training table was the last straw. They want people who want to be Cowboys leaders vs. folks who want the most money no matter what.

I’m not giving Dallas a pass for fumbling this whole thing because they did, big time, starting late last year when they didn’t take care of it before all the pass rushers reset the market.

But Micah started making things worse by arguing his case via social media. Jerry despises nothing more than that— he thinks of it as ‘disloyalty.’

I think the agent was behind a lot of that. And I don't think that's lost on Jerry.

If we just got Clark in a vacuum I'd be modestly happy with the idea of him and Osa on the inside. But we shipped away possibly the best defensive player in football. Sort of makes it feel like shit.

The problem is the timing of all of this. We could have traded him during the draft if we weren’t going to pay him. Now the shell shocked team is going to get killed in the first game for their new head coach. You don’t trade away the best defensive player on your team and the NFL when your defense is dead last.
