Got to.

Let's hope the Manning boy decides to pull an Eli, because we definitely have more ammo for something like that than anybody else.

Assuming he's actually good of course.
We should package all four firsts (our two and Packers too) to get up and get a QB.

I hope this doesn’t put too much pressure on Ezeiruaku to do more than he should be doing as a rookie. Dallas has plenty of pass rushers and should be able to generate enough pressure to be at least middle of the pack
Do we?

Fowler, Simple Sam, Houston and Kneeland are not going to create situations where you have to adjust what you want to do in terms of pass protection. Parsons did make line calls difficult and the adjustments made it better for our slop inside to have a fighting chance.

Unfortunately, all of this means Ezeiruaku has to be at least half a Parsons. I like him but that is unfair.

I’m crossing my fingers that Clark can have a 2006 Jason Ferguson type impact and maybe show the other DT’s a bit how to play the game.

This is a silver lining to all this
I think he's going to be nice, solid starting DT for 2-4 years, still a terrible trade overall though.

If we just got Clark in a vacuum I'd be modestly happy with the idea of him and Osa on the inside. But we shipped away possibly the best defensive player in football. Sort of makes it feel like shit.
I bought a Parsons jersey last year. Now it goes on the shelf until that big mouth retires.

But yeah, it’s shitty. However I will say Clark helps address what is right now a gaping wide hole in our defense.

We’ll drop from 5th last year in defensive front pass rush win rate to say 16th— which is a major drop. but we might go from absolutely pathetic vs the run to a top ten run defense with our LB corps by year end if Overshown returns in November

That really makes a difference when facing balanced offenses of playoff caliber

2006 Ferguson— Hell I’ll take that any day from a 30 year old vet. Clarks been a pro-bowler but he’s coming off his worst year. I’m being hopeful, and it’s better than anything we’ve had since that year.
He supposedly got hurt in the opener last year, played through it and then had surgery in January right after the season ended.

We'll see how much of an impact that had but 2023 was probably the best season of his career.

The problem is the timing of all of this. We could have traded him during the draft if we weren’t going to pay him. Now the shell shocked team is going to get killed in the first game for their new head coach. You don’t trade away the best defensive player on your team and the NFL when your defense is dead last.
I actually prefer picks in the next two drafts rather than 2025 and 2026, since the QB class in 25 was shit and 26 and 27 will be strong.

I also think 2027 will have a number of position players who are some of the best to come out in recent memory.

Well, whomever advised Jerry about Clark got it pretty much wrong.

Clark is not a top DT in this league. Good, but not top.

Wyatt is the DL talent we should have demanded.
