That's the worst part. They don't even bother to interview the best candidates. Like hey, even if you know you're going to cheap out on these dudes, why not interview them and see what a top candidate should look like? It's like free agency, we have no interest if other teams are interested. We just want to go for the guys who have no other options.
Jerry can have a HC AND an OC and only have to pay one person. Or have a much more reasonably priced OC instead of one of those geniuses that cost millions. The sad part is I'd rather the guy be head coach as opposed to OC. I've seen what he looks like as an OC, it's awful. I know he actually worked with the defense for a year here. So maybe he could be a walk around coach. And let someone else actually run the offense and defense. He has been around long enough to have a big network of potential assistants.
I still want no part of him as head coach. Just trying to say if they are going to do something that stupid. I hope he isn't also running the offense and calling plays. Let someone who is actually good at it do it and maybe he has a slight chance of not failing miserably.
I'm guessing that it's just like you said with free agency -- we have an idea through their agents what kind of contract they'd expect. And it's not bargain basement, so no use in even talking to them. That's the worst part. They don't even bother to interview the best candidates. The sad thing is there is still a lot of use in talking to them. Go pick their brain for 3 or 4 hours. Like I said, see what top of the line coaches have to offer. Then when you go bargain shopping at least you have something to compare it to. May even give you ideas that you never thought of to suggest to another coach.I'm guessing that it's just like you said with free agency -- we have an idea through their agents what kind of contract they'd expect. Literally the only guy on that list deserving of a head coaching job in my opinion is Saleh. That's just because I think the offense in New York just sunk that dudes chances. Here, I think it would be much easier to put a strong offense together while he focuses on defense.
And Saleh and Frazier were at least partially Rooney Rule guys.
Why would an owner or GM care what the fans think? You can't make decisions based on how fans will react.I think that's exactly it. He doesn't care what we think anymore. Doesn't even care about selling it to us. He's going to do what he wants, and if we don't like it, tough shit.
It's not malpractice if those guys want nothing to do with coaching the Cowboys?
I don't think that's really the case. You just made that stuff up.It's not malpractice if those guys want nothing to do with coaching the Cowboys?
Johnson wanted no part of working for Jerry and this FO. Glenn wants to coach the Jets where he was drafted and played.
The problem is very good candidates don't want any part of coming here.
Isn’t that 1.5 Rooney’s on a I’m not racist because I have a black friend scale?
