Yeah, but the difference is that the Deion thing is real. There's one of your Rooney interviews, throw in Deion and we have ourselves a fully inclusive search.

I actually like Saleh as a defensive coordinator. I just think he sort of sucks as a head coach. There's one of your Rooney interviews, throw in Deion and we have ourselves a fully inclusive search.
That's a Rooney rule interview.
Setting it up so he can try to look smart if he can’t find someone and then goes and gets a college coach. What's really scary is a few different people have said -- based on something Jerry said in a radio interview -- that we'll look at people not really under a lot of time pressure, and/or "outside the box" names. People took that to mean maybe some college coaches, but they all have such huge buyouts that I can't see that being it. No idea what Jerry has in mind.
But maybe it's just someone like Kellen who few, if any, other teams would want.
I think Saleh would be more able to command a room than Bucktooth Moore. He's not a great choice but it's better than some of the names we've been hearing. Also a bit surprised Jer is looking at a defensive coach. Unless it's what's already been said and for the Rooney rule.
He'd be a nice DC hire for sure but I'd be shocked if he picked Dallas over SF.I actually like Saleh as a defensive coordinator. I just think he sort of sucks as a head coach.
You have millions of dollars and that at home. I might retire as well.On the phone when asked about retirement, Zimmer was getting a humzimmer.

The Deion thing was supposedly a phone all. For it to count, I think you have to interview minority candidates in person.Yeah, but the difference is that the Deion thing is real.
Feeling him out to see if he would mentor Witten...He'd be a nice DC hire for sure but I'd be shocked if he picked Dallas over SF.
I know that, but I'm saying that I don't believe his inclusion in any part of the process is a Rooney rule thing as there is genuine interest to making him the coach. The Deion thing was supposedly a phone all. For it to count, I think you have to interview minority candidates in person.
I disagree with the personality. I actually think he would be a great motivator and leader. I just think the lack of experience would be way too steep. To jump from highschool to the NFL just seems ludicrous to me. On top of that he hasn't even been coaching highschool that long. He is the type that needs at least an NFL assistant job to get some seasoning and experience around other NFL coaching quality people. And maybe that's the path he is headed. Or hell he seems like he would be a good candidate for a college coaching position.Man I really don't want Witten in any capacity. Not only is he completely inexperienced, but I'm not convinced he's a great communicator. Monotone and mush-mouthed. Also I hate Kellen Moore. We are in the darkest of times with this team, holy shit.
It really seems like an interview with Deion would be something Deion wouldn't want to publicly do unless he was getting the job. As a college coach you risk killing your recruiting if you're interviewing for an NFL job. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Prime wasn't just angling for money from Colorado with this leaked conversation. The Deion thing was supposedly a phone all. Rooney rule.
Yep, TE coach. Maybe work his way up to OC under an offensive play calling head coach. That's probably the path the Cowboys had in mind with McCarthy on like a 2 year deal. But McCarthy didn't want to just be keeping the seat warm for Witten.Witten as a TE coach in a normal environment would be fine, Witten on a staff with Jerry just waiting for an opportunity to make him HC is insane.

Witten will need a DC.Rooney rule.
Seriously though, why not interview someone who could be a DC?
