Are those the fags that dared to question Jerry and quickly snapped back in line?
Yep, same show. Not sure if Belt was on that day, but I think he was.

My bad. He wasn't. It was just the two. I don't listen to the morning show but it was specifically RJ that got the crackback from Jerry

Just a few other things he said, he acted like it would be good to bring on Witten as an assistant. Thought that could work with Kellen, and he could almost be like Jason was to Wade (HCIW). Suggested that could have been something Jerry wanted and Mike refused because he didn't want to be looking over his shoulder. Acted like Mike was paranoid about Quinn the years he was here and didn't want more of that.

Also, thought Eberflus would be a good DC here.

Maybe he would, but this guy sounds to me like a kid who grew up during the Garrett era and thought things were pretty great then, so he wants to re-create that. Especially because Dak would like it.

The whole idea is just gross IMO.

The afternoon show is much better even with Broaddus on it. They are much more critical of the Jones.

I was telling @Cotton, I listened to the first of that yesterday and was shocked at how much they were trashing Jerry. The guy who does the postgame shows with Broaddus (I don't know his name) was especially harsh. It was awesome.

I agree, it's why I'll admit that just picking the best coordinator off another team doesn't mean the guy will make a great head coach. Knowing x and o's doesn't make you a great head coach.
For those reasons that you mentioned, I think a guy with Deion's personality is actually what the Cowboys need.

I know he's not popular here, but Deion is more of a Saban/Belichick/Parcells....straight forward, no-nonsense, leader of men type of guy than people give him credit for.

Campbell's the same way which is why it's worked in Detroit. It also helps that Lions ownership allowed him to build the culture as he saw fit.

Knowing the Cowboys they'll hire the opposite. They'll settle on some spineless schlub who's just happy to have a job.

It's good to finally see people waking up. Fans and beat writers both.

Eberflus would be fine as DC but the rest is laughable. You want to bring in Witten as a coach in waiting when the HC is in his 30s?

That's literally insane.

He's right though.

I'm actually surprised at how serious Deion has taken that job.

Does that mean he's a great coach or that he'll be successful for the Cowboys or any other NFL team?

No.

But that coupled with what I said last night about him assembling a good staff and letting them work I think would give us a better chance at success than hiring Moore.

He surprisingly is a pretty disciplined, straight shooter as a HC.

Invoking Parcells, Belichick, and Alabama Jones to describe Deion is certainly a choice though.

:lol

Fair enough.

I think he was just trying to say that his coaching style and demeanor is similar to those guys.

1big is a pretty smart guy so I seriously doubt he was comparing him to those coaches.

But comparing him to Parcells and Belichick? I don't think so.

You think either of those guys would allow the circus that follows Deion? I certainly don't. (remember how much Parcells hated the drama around T.O.?) And that circus would hit hyperdrive in the Dallas spotlight. I want no part of it.

And why should we bend to Deion being able to assemble a good staff, but just discount Moore from doing so? But anyway, DAMN you for making me defend Kellen Moore. For the record, I don't want any part of him, either. But if those are my only two choices, I take Moore.

I totally get the reservations with Deion because of his reputation and what he was like as a player.

However, as I alluded to before, I've been pleasantly surprised from what I've seen from him as a coach and more importantly, his approach as a coach.

Consider this....One of the guys that he most confides in for guidance and advice is Nick Saban. And if you hear Nick Saban talk about Deion, he always speaks of him very highly and has a lot of respect for what Deion is doing as a coach.

From that I take away two important things: first, if you were to make a short list of coaches that you would want to seek coaching advice and direction from, Nick Saban would be on that list.

Second, do you think Nick Saban would provide as much guidance to Deion as he has if he didn't respect him or thought for one second that Deion wasn't at all serious about this coaching thing?

I highly doubt it.

From the outside, you are talking about two guys who couldn't be any more different but yet they've formed a friendship in recent years.

That to me lends a lot of credibility to Deion as a coach and to his style of coaching. It also tells me that he's a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for because it's not like he's seeking out the advice of coaches just because they're black or guys that he had a personal relationship from back in the day or any other such nonsense.

The guy has surrounded himself with the types of people that he believes truly gives him the best chance to succeed as a football coach. And if he were to be made the coach in Dallas and continued on with that same approach?

I think he'd actually have a solid chance to succeed.

I look at Kellen Moore and I see another Jason Garrett and a guy that will never ever command the respect of an NFL locker room. I want no part of that spineless goof whatsoever.
