He only has to wait a week and he can do whatever he wants, right?

But will that week close the window of other opportunities? I'd be fucking pissed even if I was leaning toward staying.

Yes, but it's a dangerous game of chicken. What if he interviews with Chicago but they go in a different direction? I don't see him coming back to Dallas if Jerry lets him test the market.

That is part of this whole pathetic game.

Jerry Jones is sending him out, sorta.

When his agent has Chicago’s price, then we see.

You don't think his agent hasn't been on the phone with them?

Yeah, it's against the "rules". But you can't tell me those conversations don't happen.

At this point I'd be shocked if McCarthy wasn't the HC next year, it seemed that way over the last few weeks of the season, and unless we put in a request to interview some other candidates by the weekend I just don't see it.

The real intrigue is whether or not Schottenheimer and Zimmer are back.

I assume Zimmer is back if he wants to be, but Schottenheimer I'm not so sure.

If Zimmer leaves there are some very strong options available who are arguably upgrades: Saleh, Dennis Allen, Anarumo and Eberflus.

This just tells me Fat Mike has a price, now will Jerry match it.

All I can say about the Bears’ organization is that it is a shit show. Their GM is over their head. And funny thing is, no other team is calling on McCarthy.

You could easily explain that as other teams waiting to see if the Bears get permission. If the Bears were denied there's no point in anyone else asking.

I think we all know that if McCarthy is gone what is about to happen over the next few weeks will be anything but a normal HC search compared to what happens around the rest of the league. I have no idea what these guys are going to do exactly but I assume if McCarthy is gone Moore will be at the top of their list, perhaps along with a recognizable name with HC experience like Vrabel.

Maybe there's an outside chance that a familiar face like Aaron Glenn might be in the mix as well since he also has ties to Campbell and Payton who the organization respects.

But someone like a Ben Johnson or Brian Flores? Let alone someone even more anonymous like Liam Coen?

Nope and nope.

But let's pretend this were a normal team, who would be your shortlist of 5-7 candidates in no particular order?

For me it'd be:

Ben Johnson, Mike Vrabel, Aaron Glenn, Brian Flores, Joe Brady, Jesse Minter, and a real dark horse, Adam Stenavich.
You mean like NE?

I think the fan base is split at least on McCarthy.

This is the carnival barker in action.

It is so predictable and gross.
