Yep but the idea would be eventually Jerry would have no one reputable to lead the Cowboys, which hopefully would lead to losing a lot of games. We can only hope something changes the direction at this point.I think any coach who tried that with Jerry, he'd just say see ya.
I just hope they don't intend to bring back our shitty Oline coach. It's been pretty obvious for weeks now that they intend on bringing him back and he wants to be back. As I've said before, and just like every cowboys contract, the sticking point is money but I'll be surprised if they don't get that worked out. McCarthy probably wants a raise but probably won't break the bank. Jerry is just trying to see if McCarthy blinks.
Might have to because I'm sure all the new staffs coming in already have position coaches promised. It's what happens when you waste time.I just hope they don't intend to bring back our shitty Oline coach.
I think once you do that you're already admitting that Mike isn't the coach for you. It's like being married and then saying you just want to go on a few dates to see if there is better out there. If you get to that point, you're getting divorced. Is it me or isn't it a terrible look for Jerry to not even look at any other coaches?
If you did that, you could at least argue that you interviewed some other candidates but none were more impressive than Mike. At least then you're attempting to find the best coach available. As it is, it looks just like last offseason -- you aren't even trying.
Yeah. I have no problem with him not interviewing other coaches. They tell Mike to just sit back and wait, they want to see if they can possibly find somebody better? That to me would be the terrible look. Everybody has pretty much known he was the odds on favorite for coming back for a couple months now.I think once you do that you're already admitting that Mike isn't the coach for you. It's like being married and then saying you just want to go on a few dates to see if there is better out there. If you get to that point, you're getting divorced.
Eh, to me this different because this isn't love, this isn't a lifetime commitment, this isn't family or kids. This is strictly business, on both sides.I think once you do that you're already admitting that Mike isn't the coach for you. It's like being married and then saying you just want to go on a few dates to see if there is better out there. If you get to that point, you're getting divorced.
You are probably right for a number of reasons, but it's hard to feel any hope in that. Like going into this year, for the next three years. My only hope is that the extension is only 2 years, 3 max.
We know that we can be a very good, even nearly elite regular season team with McCarthy. Bring him back and I'd expect at least 10 wins and a wild card appearance next year with the potential for more, but the real question as always will be the playoffs.
Can he get us to the NFCC?
I highly doubt it but hey, it's better than going 8-9 with Kellen Moore.
Wouldn't just offend him. But it would basically chop whatever balls off that he has left. How do the players respect a coach that the team doesn't even want?Would it offend Mike, maybe, but I doubt it would keep him from taking the job.
Well if they hire him, they want him. And they'd show they liked him more than the other candidates instead of not even looking.Wouldn't just offend him. But it would basically chop whatever balls off that he has left. How do the players respect a coach that the team doesn't even want?
Maybe he can come up with some plays for Fat Mike to call that aren't formulaic dog shit? We know Schottenheimer doesn't apply in that regardWhat does an offensive coordinator even do when he doesn't call plays?

I bet he just goes on sammich runs for Fat Mike.Position coaches don't call plays either and they have plenty of things to do. I imagine an OC even if he isn't calling plays will hold meetings, help develop game plans, watch film of opposing defenses, help hold practices and run drills, and a bunch of other things.
You stick with him because you believe in him. You interview others because you don't believe in him. That's how players will see it.Well if they hire him, they want him. And they'd show they liked him more than the other candidates instead of not even looking.
To me, this is what looks bad. Just sticking with the guy here because he's here and you're familiar with him.
