Before yesterday morning, the board consensus was not to pay Dak. Now that we're stuck with him for four more years, it's suddenly "smart."

Are you really this dense? I've been consistent all along with my opinion on Dak.

He has been good and at the same time not good enough.

Nevertheless he's a top tenish QB, in part because there are very few good QBs right now.

That makes him incredibly valuable.

I would have moved heaven and earth to trade him in the off season.

They didn't do that, so the only other option in my mind is to pay him, because letting him walk for a comp pick after the season would have been incredibly stupid.

In the meantime yes, we should be looking for his replacement.

It's taken them far more than 2-3 tries to finally find a solid option.

Look, I'm not the biggest fan of Dak either but finding a truly starting caliber quarterback is not as easy as you like to make it seem.

Even the "can't miss" guys end up being misses, so the failure to pick the right guy isn't always due to incompetence.

I personally would have chosen to move on from him, but I do understand from an organizational standpoint why you would want to continue to roll the dice with him because finding a guy who can do Dak does isn't easy at all.
