Have no idea why you'd re-sign Daniel Jones to a huge contract. Then again, I wouldn't have paid Prescott all that money.

Teams are so fucking desperate for relevance that they'll keep any old shitty veteran rather than have to draft and develop multiple times.

The reason you pay all that money to Prescott is because of guys like former first round pick Daniel Jones.

"Let's make Dak the highest paid player in football because he's not as bad as Daniel Jones and we probably can't find anyone better than him" is a helluva way to run a team. :picard

That's a wilfully ignorant reading of what I said.

The point isn't that he's not as bad as Jones, it's that Dak is difficult to replace at his skill level.

Even first rounders like Jones or Young or a host of other busts are no guarantee to be anywhere close to what Dak gives you, and there's a good chance it'll be much worse.

But if you wanna win a championship, you gotta do it, even if it means regressing in the short term. After eight years, it's clear that Dak has a ceiling, and it ain't the Super Bowl. You can't be scared that the next guy might be worse.

It's not about being scared it's about being smart.

I'd just cut bait and move on. Won't take you more than 2-3 tries to find a stud.

Just keep drafting UNC QBs and you'll get a future superstar like Drake Maye.

Jones' problem is that he's from Dook.

Dak wouldn't be that difficult to replace. He remains overrated and closer to the middle tier than the top tier.

You hit on a late first round QB, hardly an impossible thing to do, and you'll have a near replicate. Like, Jordan Love isn't all that different than Dak.

It's not smart to lock yourself into a guy who can't do it.

I would have traded Dak. But I would not let an asset like him walk for a comp pick. That would have been a massive waste of resources. Dak is very very valuable.

I'd rather take my chances than get left holding cap space with no one worth spending it on.

Before yesterday morning, the board consensus was not to pay Dak. Now that we're stuck with him for four more years, it's suddenly "smart." :shrug
