Even if he does get a long term deal I don't think he's going to hit th ground running after missing all off-season. Dez was rusty after holding out in 2015 and promptly got hurt week 1.
Even with Barkley full strength, I’m not overly concerned with the New York Giants. I get it, divisional rival. Things can happen. But if we can’t handle the Giants, we’re not doing anything this year anyway. Barring some crazy shit happening, we should beat them rather easily.

Barkley has never terrified me for some reason. I'm not trying to trash the guy. But there is just something about him that doesn't feel all that dominant. I think it's because his game is a lot of hit or miss. He has the wheels to get the big gain but it's very sporadic. The frustrating RB's to face are the ones that consistently put their offense in a 2nd and 4 or 2nd and 5 down and distance and it's just like first down after first down. Those are really the ones that I fear.

Or maybe it's just that Daniel Jones sucks so much that Barkley hasn't really felt like an impact to me.

We also usually do a good job of shutting him down. Outside of the random 40 yard TD he has against us last year I'm guessing he averaged under 3 YPC over about 30 carries.

He is the only somewhat reliable tool they have in my opinion. They should have paid him in the first place. 14M isn't out of line for his services.
Not out of line in year one. But injuries, durability and longevity have to be considered. It's like paying 15 mil for Zeke was reasonable when he was in his prime. But by the time he signed the contract the majority of it was going to be played past his prime.

Huge factors. I'd be perfectly fine with never giving a rb a 2nd contract again. And yes, I'd include Pollard even though he doesn't have the miles on him that Zeke did. I would move on from TP after this season.

It would have to be an impactful runner who didn’t take a lot of punishment and who’d lost none of his speed.
