So sorry, I can certainly relate to that.

We lost our Pom (shaddup). It was pretty much my daughter's dog and I have to admit, I did not pay a shit ton of attention to him because he was kind of annoying with his neediness. He had a cough that the vets basically called it "old man cough" whatever the fuck that was.
Then after about six months or so of that, my daughter found him dead when she came home from school.

Now he is gone, I see the little things he did every day that was part of my routine and I get sad when I turn the key in the lock and he's not losing his mind.
Yeah I've caught myself about to tell mine backup from the door when I come in because he was a big clumsy oaf and would damn near knock you over then it hits me again that he's gone. Really sucks your daughter is who found yours. Condolences.

Thanks and likewise. I had opposite. A yip-yip. With anxiety.

He was jacked up, but he was part of our family. It leaves a pretty big hole in the heart.

I lost a dog once I called Jackie Brown after the movie. She was absolutely the best dog I ever had. When I lost her I told myself I would never get attached to a dog again.

Easier to say than do
I tried one more time, I got a dog I named Tatanka. Was a massive healer/mastiff/pit mix. He was badasss, but he got the parvo that Jackie Brown left behind. We moved between Jackie dying and Tatanka dying in my defense.

I am going to have to perform a massive thread rebuild with about the last hour's worth of posts going to the Depression Thread.

I guess this is Yoda, but okay.

Absolutely, it is difficult to deal with.

I find myself driving by animal shelters...that weren't on my way home.
We still have 2 but I admit I've already started watching craigslist to add another

I have even entertained my daughter's suggestion of a cat, which frightens me to death.
Yeah I acquired an outdoor one by random chance and she is actually great. Kills the shit out of mice and small creatures, low maintenance, doesn't run off...

We kind of have an outside cat. Just showed up one day. Have found dead field rats(we have a big plot backing up to wooded area) so I don't care if he stays. Even started leaving out a water bowl and some dry food
