That is very nice. I have seen that sort of thing but didn't know what it was called.
Thanks, brother. Those are 2X10s on top and there were about 30 of them. It wore my ass out to say the least. The only thing I didn't do was pour the concrete slab. And now, my mom and dad don't even live there anymore. :lol

I need to build one over my back porch patio where a big tree died last year and now it's too open and unshaded, so you can look forward to me bugging you for advice on this.

If you're going to be building it on concrete you will need a hammer drill. That's step one.

Step 2. Get rid of the patio and go to a porch. Just saying that Jerry hasn't let go since the Patio has been a thing.
Like he had let go before.

Pretty much. Gives minimal shade and no overhead rain cover. Waste of money.
It's more decorative than functional. But they do serve a purpose.

Since I know you were all dying for an update on my welder :unsure , I tried it again after the electrician fixed the receptacle and plug, and I can't believe how much better it is. I thought it would just get back to when it was functional, but it's way better now. I can almost set the amps down to where it should be for a given rod size and have it work now, and striking and keeping the arc going is 10x easier . Not sure why that is, maybe my cleaning out the inside and and scraping all the contacts actually made a difference? :shrug

Good power makes all the difference in the world. Makes welds better, stronger, prettier the whole nine. Glad you got it working man.

I’m in the middle of a high end kitchen remodel right now gutted to the studs and reoriented. It was a dump to begin with. The home was built in 1951.

I’ll post pics when it’s all done of before and after so you can all see what daddy is capable of.

Coulda have used you last year. We did this exact thing with the kitchen at my house. House was built in 1953. lol Had one of those peninsulas where there was a cooktop and a double wall oven. Ripped all that shit out, tore a large chunk of wall out between the kitchen and living room, and incorporated the dining room into the kitchen. Just wasn't even close to enough room for a kitchen we could actually work in, and we never used the dining room anyway. Completely different world now.

We did something similar with this layout, but to me this one is going to look a bit too spacious.

He’s going to have one 12’ wall that’s pretty much going unused and the whole thing opens up to a living room area that was pretty empty originally other than a recliner and a hutch.

The guy had just gotten home from open heart surgery the week before we started the project, so everything was a cluster fuck in the kitchen, so I didn’t get great before pictures. There was clutter everywhere and hardly any room to stand back and snap photos.

Everything is going to look pretty custom other than the floor, I couldn’t get him to change his mind, he’s insisting on a floating laminate floor. I am so sick of laminate flooring. It’s ugly shit imo.

I’m gonna expand the “DIY” portion of this thread.
Engine for my 67 pickup. Assembled and custom painted by me. LS1, 427 CID. 11.1 compression, will use factory GM pcm out of a 2009 Escalade along with custom tune. Should make approximately 600-650 HP.
