Dabo is not a great coach. He's a great college coach, but I wouldn't say he's a great coach if that makes sense.
Mind you, I hate Clemson, but I don't think I'm biased on this one bit. Dabo benefits greatly by a very cohesive coaching staff. Brent Venebles has been his assistant forever, and he's arguably one of the best DC's in college football. Strangely, he loves it at Clemson and doesn't want a HC gig. Earlier this offseason, Clemson lost an offensive assistant who took a head coaching job somewhere, and he was the first assistant Dabo has had to replace in years.
Add to it, Dabo feasts on an embarrassingly bad ACC. Virginia Tech sucks. Florida State sucks. Miami is a dumpster fire. Dabo has no competition in the ACC. He basically doesn't play anyone until the CFP.
I think Dabo is a good motivator. His players love him and its kind of like a cult down there. But I don't think his style would work in the NFL. NFL players won't eat out of his hand like college kids would. I don't think he's got the X's and O's to make it as an actual coach.
Lets not forget Dabo was a questionable hire when Clemson hired him, and he was almost run off after several years on the job for mediocre performance. He's also benefiting by having back to back amazing quarterbacks. How many times you see in college a team go from a Dashaun Watson to a Trevor Lawrence? That is insane luck.
