How come no one talks about why the students have this debt in the first place?
IIRC, its because some previous politician decided all kids should have the "right" to go to college, so low interest loans were given en masse to kids who in most cases didn't understand the impending consequences for the debt they easily obtained. The resulting money supply drove up demand, the limited supply drove up prices and now we have college being more expensive than ever while never being less valuable with those who incurred this debt being saddled with this burden for decades.
So what do the politicians do?
They double down on stupid and suggest all debt should be forgiven, current national debt be damned, we'll just tax the "rich"
The road to hell truly is paved with good intentions
