Well I can’t say I hate giving up a third if he’s resigned because he’s actually quite good and he’s just 24. We gave up a first for Amari at age 24. He’s not Amari but he’s not that far behind. He won't draw a third, no way. Fourth at best, but my guess is another sweet, sweet 5th.
Actually, if he shows a pulse, Jerry will re-sign him just to show he wasn't wrong.
They dont give out many thirds but players like George Pickens (24 year old 1000 yard receiver) don’t often leave their teams in free agency either. That kind of player is usually re-signed.They don't give out many third or fourth comp picks. He would have to be one of the highest paid NFL receivers to get a third round comp pick. Which means he would need to have a 1200+ yard seasons here.
My guess is it's probably a fourth round comp pick. And it's sad how well we know this franchise that we already know Pickens won't get a contract here.
Wonder what the 2026 FA market will be for a guy who couldn’t stick in either Pittsburgh or Dallas?Ah, so third rounder. Yeah that is a steep price but he’s a talent and you have to pay when you are desperate.
Again, you get back a third or fourth when he leaves a year later, so it’s pushing it back a year, but, if you get back a third, it’s just like rolling over the pick. Not the end of the world.
Just wait on it.Things would have to go pretty bad for us not to get a fourth for him I think.
We are already counting on recouping that fifth as a comp for him...
Lamb doesn't need to give up anything. It's the Tolbert's and Brooks and Cooks passes that will go to him. You don't need to pass the ball 40 times a game to have 2 1000 yard receivers.Just wait on it.
How is Pickens going to get a huge deal playing on the other side from CeeDee? There are only so many yards to go around. It's not like Dak is Dan Fouts anyway. And what happened to running the ball more?
This is peak Jerry Jones. We needed a high character player who would be content as a #2 opposite CeeDee. We got the shiny object diametrical opposite of that.
I guess when you compare it to giving upa 4th for Mingo its a steal.
If he's not going to get a huge deal then we can re-sign him and I'm not concerned about giving up the pick so much.Just wait on it.

Things would have to go pretty bad for us to not want to bring him back on a prove-it deal. Like meltdown bad.Wonder what the 2026 FA market will be for a guy who couldn’t stick in either Pittsburgh or Dallas?
Might not draw the compensation we think. Might be a prove it deal instead.
Yeah, remember, we had Cooper/Lamb/Gallup at one time with non-washed up Ezekiel Elliott. Technically only Cooper broke 1,000, but Gallup and Lamb each had like 800-900. I don't foresee a third WR getting that much this year so two 1000 yard receivers is possible.Lamb doesn't need to give up anything. It's the Tolbert's and Brooks and Cooks passes that will go to him. You don't need to pass the ball 40 times a game to have 2 1000 yard receivers.
Yea I think this is the logic. If he's not going to get a huge deal then we can re-sign him and I'm not concerned about giving up the pick so much.
If he gets a huge deal, if someone wants to pay him over $20m a year, then I'm sure we are out, but we will get a good comp pick (if we don't sign a ton of other free agents). Stefon Diggs and Davante Adams each got over $20m a year, and they are coming off like 1100 yard seasons, but they are also like 31-32 years old.
Pickens will be 25. If he puts up a 900 yard season, it's foreseeable that someone will give him big bucks. And if no one gives him big bucks we can bring him back.
And sadly at that price we are probably out, we don't like having two good WRs being paid at the same time.Yea I think this is the logic.
Either we bring him back in Stephen's cheapo price range or he walks and we get at least a 4 as a comp pick.
If he puts up 900-1000 yards and 6-8 TD's this year he's going to get 20+/year unless he blows a gasket, and those numbers are very attainable opposite a legit number 1 WR.
Agreed, or Lance just zero contribution bad.Things would have to go pretty bad for us to not want to bring him back on a prove-it deal. Like meltdown bad.
And I can't see it being Lance Zero Contribution bad.Agreed, or Lance just zero contribution bad.
Totally agree. Hell Tolbert had over 600 last year. It's not that hard. And I can't see it being Lance Zero Contribution bad.
He's a 24 year old with circus catch and lethal deep threat talent. Lance proved that he just kinda sucks. Pickens can cut it in this league at a high level. And he should still be improving.
Even if Dak goes down for the season, I'd suspect you can get 700 yards and 5 TDs out of Pickens as a #2 and some team might pay him (or, again, we could re-sign him).
