Dude's a chronic diva. But I'd take the chance for a 4th. Even with the 6th handcuffed along for the ride. His talent certainly warrants that.

Plus, there's the added bonus of witnessing the endless crying over the loss of another 4th.

I wouldn't like it but I wouldn't lose my shit over it because a least they'd get some use out of their 4th this time.

But I think that guy is full of shit.

I still wouldn't do it. Dude is a lunatic. And he didn't even have a true #1 taking throws away from him like he would here with CeeDee.

It's the last year of his fucking deal. If he has a good season are we going to reup with him? I don't like it. Maybe a 5th only.

That's the big question, assuming the guy works out and puts up around 1000 yards and 6-8 TD's, do we really believe these cheap fucks are going to give some nut case dumbo a deal averaging 20-25/year?

If not, and it's arguable whether they should in the first place even if he has a very good year, then what's the point?

Just roll the dice on one of these vet FA's and hope the board works out for you in next year's draft.

Conversely, maybe a trade like this would just be an extension of Stephen's weird little obsession with compensatory picks.

Trade a 4 in the 2026 draft for a guy, have him on the field in 2025 presumably as a sizable upgrade, and then likely get at least a 4, if not a 3 as a compensatory pick in 2027.

Would make some measure of sense as long as the guy doesn't slap a sideline reporter or something.

If he has a good year and we choose not to resign him, I have no doubt we'd get a 4th back as a comp pick. Possibly a 3rd. Somebody would pony up the money. Meat head or not.

Ok, I complained about the Booker pick because I thought we could have done more with the 12th overall pick, but at least Booker is a good guy and should be a good player for years. This I really hate and think has the potential for disaster. These type guys just don't work here. Tomlin is good with players and if he couldn't get him to fly straight, Jerry's coddling circus really won't.

I will say this, ignoring the compensation which hopefully isn't any worse than a fourth round pick, and I hate giving up something like that yet again. He is a legit 1000 yard receiver and talented kid. And the whole point of having all these leaders on a team is the ability to actually keep a guy like this focused and in line.

That Steelers offense had zero leadership. Russell Wilson? Anything but a leader. They had no one else on offense with any skins on the wall (probowls or accomplishments). In Dallas at least Pickens steps into a place with veteran leaders on the offense and high charecter additions. When you have that you can afford to take in a challenge like Pickens.

I mean, it depends on what they gave up, but… even if the idea is that they give up a fourth and sixth now and then get a third or fourth as a compensatory pick when he leaves (albeit a year delayed) that’s a pretty cheap price to pay for a rental.

They are desperate and they put themselves into this situation. And they clearly aren’t ever willing to punt on a year to put themselves into a better future position. They’ve hitched themselves to Dak and can’t or won’t get out of that bad relationship.

This is, talent wise, probably the best they could have done all offseason. Certainly a better player than signing aging Cooper Kupp. This is a 24 year old who has put up a 1000 yard season and is probably a very good #2, though not as good as the Lamb-Amari Cooper pairing, but still pretty solid.

The question is if his head is on straight. The other question is, given that he’s almost certainly just a rental, is he able to fit in well enough during his one season here?

Ah, so third rounder. Yeah that is a steep price but he’s a talent and you have to pay when you are desperate.

Again, you get back a third or fourth when he leaves a year later, so it’s pushing it back a year, but, if you get back a third, it’s just like rolling over the pick. Not the end of the world.

He won't draw a third, no way. Fourth at best, but my guess is another sweet, sweet 5th.

Actually, if he shows a pulse, Jerry will re-sign him just to show he wasn't wrong.

They don't give out many third or fourth comp picks. He would have to be one of the highest paid NFL receivers to get a third round comp pick. Which means he would need to have a 1200+ yard seasons here.

My guess is it's probably a fourth round comp pick. And it's sad how well we know this franchise that we already know Pickens won't get a contract here.
