It took me a while to accept that Emmitt Smith was better for the Cowboys than Herschel Walker was. Herschel was so dynamic, but people consistently failed to use him properly.

I know if Norv had Herschel, he'd have been better but even Norv failed to use our backs more as receivers. I can only imagine what an accurate passer like Troy could do with prime Herschel.

But Emmitt was a lot more patient runner and relied more on balance, patience, and vision compared with the insane combo of speed and power Walker brought. I think this was essential for our OL, which was semi-awful before Emmitt arrived. Who knew all they needed was a patient runner.

The ideal place for Walker would have been with Bill Walsh, who really wanted him. At least there they would throw to him more, and Walker was crazy dangerous as a receiving option.

We never believed in that and it fricking stumps me why not. I think there was one game vs the Rams in the early 90's where we threw a lot to Emmitt by design and he tore them to shreds. Of course, we NEVER DID IT AGAIN.

Same thing when Herschel returned to Dallas in 1996-- Troy threw a perfect pass to him that traveled 20 yards in a blink-- and (of course) we NEVER DID IT AGAIN.

This Netflix show? It's very good.

But episode 3, about that 92 NFCC vs the 49ers?

Shit....it almost made me cry.

Watching this is a reminder of why I fell in love with this team so much and why it pisses me off what that family has done to it.

But no matter what, our history can't be erased. And those 90s Cowboys, and specifically those 92 Cowboys, will always be heroes and legends to me.

This was an era when NFL football was at its absolute peak, and it was our Cowboys who ruled it at this time.

NOTHING will ever take away from that.

God bless America's Team.

Jeff Pearlman is pretty pissed that he got no recognition in the documentary. Claiming that they used a lot from his book Boys will Be Boys.

I saw where he said Jerry had nothing to do with the Walker trade. Bayless said it was John Wooten who got it started, not Jimmy or Jerry.

Yeah, I believe he was the first one who made The White House public knowledge, so I think he has a legitimate gripe.

That house looked like it was in a normal ass neighborhood. The neighbors weren't wondering why people (a lot of them hoochies) were coming and going at all hours?

Well, it looks like a normal ass neighborhood now, but while I'm sure it wasn't some private gated community, that house in Valley Ranch at that time would have definitely been upper middle class.

And maybe that was the appeal? That it was nice enough to be in a quiet, safe, suburban neighborhood but not flashy or extravagant enough to attract eyes?

As much as Jerry's meddling pisses me off to this day and I'll never forgive him for the part that he played in ruining the dynasty, I'd be lying to you if I told you that I didn't laugh out loud in that episode when he described how he had to meditate as part of his cancer treatment.

And how Jimmy Johnson was the first name on the list he had to put together of people he didn't care for but had to project positive wishes for.

"I can't get past that first motherfucker"

:lol

It was that and the scissors incident with Irvin.

Weird how Switzer objected to Troy chewing out Kevin Williams. That's pretty common when a receiver screws up a route. And then to make it racial. :doh
