I admit I laughed hysterically when Daniels and his stick legs went down. It was more of laughing at the shithead fanbase…I mean who could ever forgive the ES retards and the homers over there at the Extreme Skins forum?

I still think Daniels is a really good QB going thru the sophomore slump but I’m not sure that slight build is going to hold up in the NFL- plus DCs now have a season of tape on what he does best and guys are trying to tee off on him when he takes off to run.

If we had a real pass rush the score wouldn’t have been in the same zipcode.

Given their schedule that loss yesterday kind of ended their season, can't see them finishing better than 8-9 at this point.

And it was definitely sweet knowing how cult-like their fanbase has become over Daniels.

He'll be good as long as his legs hold up and he can handle running the ball 8-12 times a game, which of course won't be very long.

You can see that when the chips are down his natural instinct is to fall back on his running ability, even yesterday he had 8 carries in just over 2 quarters, if he had played the whole game who knows how many times he would've ran? Probably at least 12 times, maybe upwards of 15.

Like most things related to the NFL small samples get blown out of proportion, key nuance and detail is lost, and you end up with sweeping narratives that people just conform to.

The dirty little secret is that everything went perfect for them last year and they were really an 8-9 win caliber team with an extreme amount of luck, this is just natural regression to the mean. Their offense last year was primarily built around getting to 3rd and 2 with a combination of Daniels running and quick-hitting little passes for 4-6 yards, the passing game was quietly very conservative and managed to protect Daniels from having to sit in the pocket and make complex reads, but nobody notices that unless you really watch closely because of the narratives that take shape. That strategy lasts as long as you have a historic 4th down conversion % that lasts all season and your QB is fresh enough to handle 8-10 carries a game, but that's never going to be a recipe that lasts for the long term.

Their offense last year was primarily built around getting to 3rd and 2 with a combination of Daniels running and quick-hitting little passes for 4-6 yards, the passing game was quietly very conservative and managed to protect Daniels from having to sit in the pocket and make complex reads, but nobody notices that unless you really watch closely because of the narratives that take shape. That strategy lasts as long as you have a historic 4th down conversion % that lasts all season and your QB is fresh enough to handle 8-10 carries a game, but that's never going to be a recipe that lasts for the long term.

Exactly. You can only manage that for so long before the QB has to actually learn to be a passer. Remains to be seen with Daniels but I'm skeptical at the very least.

Another thing about Washington that I mentioned on one of the random podcasts that we did in the offseason with @boozeman and @mcnuttz is that they've kind of worked themselves into a shoot based on the unexpected run they made last year.

They actually believed they were that caliber of a team and traded resources for aging vets (Tunsil is 31, Deebo will be 30 in January) despite the fact that their roster isn't actually that talented to begin with. Not to mention trading a 3 for Lattimore last year who is completely washed.

If you take Daniels off the table who are their best 5 players? McLaurin who is 30, Bobby Wagner who is like 36, Luvu who is like 29, and Tunsil/Deebo who are pushing 30+.

They have very little top-end talent on the roster, which got ignored because of their run, and then they went and traded a bunch of picks for aging dudes who will be done in about 2 years. Now they're out both their 2nd and 4th next year (on top of picks in this past draft) and who do they have on the roster that they can really bank on as cornerstones for the next 5+ years?

They played well against the Jets, then reverted back to playing as poorly as ever against Carolina, now they have to put back-to-back decent performances together.

The thing with the Jets game is the run defense actually looked like shit. It just didn't matter because of our lead. And that carried over to the Panthers game where the run defense was beyond pathetic. This Redskins game at least felt like we got back to doing that right. And while fixing the run we did better in coverage in large part because we started to run man coverage. Granted it's easier to run man coverage against a bunch of nobodies as opposed to elite receivers. But I'd rather die trying to cover guys and getting beat as opposed to just covering no one in zone coverage.

That and I don’t think Dan is a very good HC. His sweet spot is DC but the Redskins I guess didn’t see it that way.
He’s also built a D a little like he had in Dallas, although he was gifted Payne and did have some DE talent last year.

Very true, their defense is exactly like ours when he was here, high risk/high reward, all boom/bust. Our defenses were better because we had a future HOF'er in Parsons and more talent at CB, but aside from that they're very similar.

When they're playing from ahead and/or when they're playing a shitty offense, they look great with how aggressive they are pressuring the QB.

When they play better opponents and/or are in more neutral game situations they struggle and look like a bottom 10 defense.

I think we have the guys at DT and other guys who can get to the QB if there’s a stud DE on that line. Theres not been a lot of pressure on opposing QBs this year so far.

But like always, the Retardo Twins are a day late and a dollar short. Dak is playing lights out and Williams at RB is the best we’ve had in years.

At this point I'd give up a 1 for Crosby, no questions asked.

It's not about this year necessarily, although I could see us making noise with him potentially, it's more about maximizing the next 2-3 years where Crosby will still be in his prime.
