Me and the guy next to me were joking that Mazi was probably enjoying watching the defense get gashed and that he was probably feeling vindicated.

The amount of opponents running wide open behind the Cowboys secondary on a weekly basis points more to poor coaching. The safeties in particular don't seem to have a clear understanding of their responsibilities in this system.

The LB group is a close second, IMO. The lack of talent on that side of the ball is at an embarrassingly low level.

And knowing our luck McLaurin will return next week and JD5 and the Commanders will drop 40 on them.

The problem is does he really care? Do the losses really bother him at all. Or does he look at his checkbook, see that he is paying Eberflus and go, nah we will stick with the plan.

Even btb gets it. This is the podcast I mentioned before where Eberflus admits he was hired before the head coach.

I know some say, "No sympathy, he knew this when he took the job" but I still feel kind of sorry for BS. His DC is sinking the team and the head coach can't do anything about it because it's all the GM's call.

We not only need new coaches on defense we need to gut it pretty much. I'll give a pass to the rookies and 2nd year guys, but out with the old. Both safeties need to go. Wilson has no business in any coverage. So bad. Hooker can go as well. Diggs is gone. The 2 LB's we signed can both leave now. Why is Murray on the field on 4th and 3? They ain't running there and he can't cover the zones he needs to. We've had some bad defenses, but this is tops. Our DT'S were bad yesterday. Ill chalk that up to a bad game. We need a DE that can consistently pressure the QB and get 10 sacks. We don't even need a Micah. Plenty of really good DE's that do just what we need. We can bitch about the offense the last 2 drives, but they have to be just about perfect each game which isn't sustainable. And they never got another shot because of this all-time bad defense.

Yeah and all of the assistant hires under Schotty were great. I really wonder if the guy couldn't have nailed hiring a defensive coordinator too. He was never given the chance though. Ugh maybe after this season.

Here are Dak's stats through 6 games. (Note the increase in his rating, game to game-more solid evidence he would benefit from getting reps in preseason) I think this may end up being his best season. It's a shame it will be wasted for a team that has a defense that would have difficulty defending Boise State.
