By the way, you can certainly tell the story of the NFL without mentioning Gore.
When I think of Gore the only thing I think about is longevity. I don't think about those seasons where he was the best RB in the NFL. I don't think about his dominance as a RB.

All I think about is holy shit, that guy was a good player for an extremely long time in the NFL. Which is impressive considering the injury concerns out of college.

But that's not HOF worthy. But no one really gives a shit about my opinion. Maybe some think longevity is a worthy criteria for the HOF.

Emmitt hung around 5 years too long also, while you're bullshitting.

What are we doing.

"Emmitt Smith won four NFL rushing titles during his legendary career with the Dallas Cowboys, leading the league in rushing yards in 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1995, making him tied with Barry Sanders, O.J. Simpson, and Eric Dickerson for the second-most rushing titles in the Super Bowl era, behind only Jim Brown's eight."

Frank Gore gained 3,960 WGAS yards his final five seasons.

Fred Taylor not a HOFer, but add those WGAS 3,960 yards and he is now above Barry Sanders on all-time rushing list. Is he a HOFer now?

Sam Mills, Edgerrin James, Sterling Sharpe

I still don’t think Jerome Bettis is a HOFer, but he’s higher on the list than those three
I feel like Mills and Sharpe in particular got in due to personal tragedy, the league has made the HoF a joke (similar to most things the league put their thumbs on) with their revisionist woke bullshit.

A couple things.

Monk won the super bowl three times as a prominent weapon.

Monk led the league in receiving yards in 1984.

Monk led the league in receptions in 1980, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1989, and 1991.
I'm well aware that he caught a lot of passes and retired as the all-time reception leader. I'm talking about a signature catch.

Your argument seemed to be, and correct me if I'm wrong, that you can justify putting Gore in because Monk is in and in your opinion Monk doesn't deserve to be in either. So since the criteria is weakened, that justifies Gore.

I'm countering by saying, whether you think Monk deserves it or not, he has a much better argument for inclusion than Gore does.

Hard to compare players who played different positions. For instance, Gore was subjected to much more punishment than Monk. Also, Monk only led the league in receptions in 1984. Not sure where you got those other years.
