Yea thinking it's an overpay is fine, it probably is, but he's also a top 5ish DT and probably a top 15ish defensive player in the league. I don't think that's going to change in the next year or two either.

This has nothing to do with trying to salvage 2025, it's the first step in rebuilding a terrible defense so that we can compete in 2026 and 2027.
It is like I have been saying all along, they have been playing for late in the year, Cinderella story, trying the make the tournament…

Maybe, which is idiotic, but thankfully they made a move for a guy young enough and under contract long enough to be a core piece for several years into the future.

I get thinking going all in for the next few years is misguided, but at least it's picking a fucking lane for once.

I just wonder if they are truly committed to Eberflus. It is so hard to figure out why other than the fact the Bears are still paying him.

Maybe Rex Ryan was right.

I guess I get it, but they have a 32 year old pro bowl caliber (or better even) QB.

It doesn't make sense to tear it all down right now.

It might be another decade before they find another good QB. Go for it while you have a guy.

I hope not but I think Williams fits any scheme so it doesn't really matter. At least we're not spending resources on guys that are a specific fit for this fucko scheme.

Yeah, me too. Although we should have given up the farm and broke Howie’s arm to get Jordan Davis.
Honestly I think Jordan Davis kinda sucks.

He's a solid 2-down run stuffer but he doesn't bring much in terms of pass rush, and I don't think he's elite vs. the run either. Carter is a stud obviously, but if Davis were a 2nd rounder as opposed to a 1st who was this board's pet cat nobody would give a shit about him.

I wouldn't trade Williams for Davis plus a 1 on top.

Also feel like there's a very high chance that we take Delane or Terrell with our first 1 next year.

DT is stacked, they traded for Wilson with Overshown coming back, safety isn't a real consideration unless we land in the top 10 (maybe!), which only leaves DE and CB.

With that said, I wouldn't complain at all with either of them unless it was with an actual top 10 pick.

Horrific take.

I don't like the trade but they did get a very good player.

That's not an F or anywhere near it.
Exactly. And this writer is stupidly putting that grade on...

It is completely unfathomable for a team like Dallas to be trading away major draft resources for a soon-to-be-28-year-old defensive tackle on a salary-heavy contract in a season when it has a 7% chance to make the playoffs, per ESPN's Football Power Index. And yet here we are.

If he were only a rental player for this year, then sure. The grade makes sense. But he will be here over the next 2-3 years at least. Years where he will still be in his prime years. It is not a stretch to think that he could still be a very good player 5 years from now.

Yeah. We could have just kept that first and second and rolled the dice. Maybe we get a player of QWs caliber. But the odds are against it. We have a better chance at getting just decent players. Or worse... Another Mazi Smith and Randy Gregory with those picks. At least this way, we KNOW we have a good to great player.

You clearly don't understand winning football.

I have it on good authority that Jordan Davis is worth a 1st and 2nd.

I actually am really starting to see EZ flashing. I think he is going to continue to blossom. But I'm with you on the Fowlers, Williams, Clowney's, Kneelands of the world are just meh. But they shouldn't be bad either. But the pass rush was great against the Cardinals and it made no difference because of the pass defense.
Guys were running wide open everywhere for the Cardinals. Sickening.
I’m concerned about Bland…Harrison absolutely fucking roasted him. I hope it’s not a case of “I got paid, I got it made” attitude with him. He looks semi retarded out there.

He was worth the investment with Quinn around. Now not so much.
