Dallas Cowboys: Do you expect a committee approach at running back?

Brian Schottenheimer said the Cowboys spent too much time talking about a committee last year. If Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders or Jaydon Blue proves to be the best running back in training camp, he will be the starter. Schottenheimer also acknowledged that the Cowboys will need more than one runner to be a successful running team. In his time as a playcaller, Schottenheimer has had a main runner (Thomas Jones with the Jets, Steven Jackson with the Rams, Chris Carson with the Seahawks) but has also had multiple backs play larger roles just as many times. There will be a mix, but it won't be a 50-50 committee. -- Todd Archer

You better bring the rest of his team then, because he isn't the reason for that ring.
True, Jason Garrett's protégé did a fine job putting the right pieces in the right places at the right time.

Say whatever you want about him. He raises his level of play in the playoffs unlike some guys making 60 mil per year.

Its easy to do that when you are being carried. Do you think that he would have the same success in Dallas? Who do you think would have the better chance to match their success with the other team between the two?

I dont give a pass to Dak but you have to admit he has to do way more to be successful.

Hurts is a good RB.

That was one of the luckiest runs of all time last year. The mediocre Rams could easily have beaten them, then they get a very un-ready and over-their-heads Washington team and a KC team that lays a total egg in the Super Bowl.

I'll give them credit for putting themselves in position to be there, yes, but the last two games they won were pathetic displays by their opponents.

Not really, he barely did anything of note in the playoffs last year.
  • Passing: 65/91 (71.4%), 726 yds, 5 TD, 1 INT, 108.6 rating
  • Rushing: 32 carries, 194 yds (6.1 avg), 5 TD
  • Total Yards: 920 (726 pass + 194 rush)
  • Total TDs: 10 (5 pass, 5 rush)
Game (Date)Opponent & RoundPassing (C/Att, Yards, TD, INT)Rushing (Att, Yards, TD)Total TD
Jan 12, 2025vs Packers (Wild Card)13/21, 131 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT5 att, 43 yds, 0 TD2
Jan 19, 2025vs Rams (Divisional)15/20, 128 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT8 att, 35 yds, 1 TD1
Jan 26, 2025vs Commanders (NFC Champ)20/28, 246 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT10 att, 44 yds, 3 TD4
Feb 9, 2025vs Chiefs (Super Bowl LIX)17/22, 221 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT9 att, 72 yds, 1 TD3

And a ring at the end of it all. He's a far superior player than Dak imo, just because he fucking wins.

He wins because he has an elite team around him, last year alone he had arguably the best RB in the league, the clear best OL in the league and a top 3 WR duo in the league. And an elite defense of course.

He's the definition of a bus driver who brings added value because he's basically a backup RB.

Put Dak on that team and they're still winning the Super Bowl, put Hurts here and we're probably worse off for it.

Aikman not that good by the way you guys judge Hurts. It was everyone around him.
Did you bother noticing that Hurts barely ever threw the ball more than 20 times a game in the playoffs last year?

That's a massive outlier, Aikman routinely had 30-35 pass attempts a game 30+ years ago.
