Whoop-de-do

Probably had a lot to do with the fact that the running game emerged once Elliott was benched and that games were closer after the defense improved so we weren't constantly down 20+ .

My guess is that mostly had to do with Rush getting the ball out faster.

Maybe it had to do with not having Martin next to him loafing... Hoffman will at least give everything he has on every play.

It’s like buying a car at the end of its lease.
Do you think it's ever a good idea to buy a car that's under lease?

And if so, when would you say is that ideal window to do so?

You typically cannot purchase a leased vehicle until the actual end of lease. Some manufacturers like BMW and Cadillac, Mercedes and Porsche will sometimes do a “pull ahead” type promotional where you can buy or trade the current lease 6-9 months early of its contract date.

in general though, the only way I ever buy a vehicle off lease is if its residual value is substantially under its trade-in and retail value. 9 times out of 10 the residual value is 10-30% more than the vehicle is actually worth on the retail market.

For instance, during the vehicle shortage in 22/23, I had a truck in my company come off lease. The original lease was a 39 month lease with a buy out or residual cost at the end of the lease of 36,000 dollars. The original MSRP was 69,0000 dollars. Luckily for me, this truck only had about 11,000 miles on it since it’s only used to move heavy equipment around. The low miles really jacked up the retail value, along with the fact you couldn’t buy a new one for less than 90k now. So the retail value on my truck was around 47k at the lease end….so for me it was a no brainer to buy the truck out of the end lease because the truck was actually worth about 11k MORE than the residual buy out value. Even though the truck is worth more, I still only have to pay the original 36,000.00 contract balance.

Well, Audi told me I could buy it at any point.

This is my 3rd Audi and I really like these cars.

I love the one I currently have now. It's a 2024 S5 that I've had for almost a year.

I've only got 5K miles on it after 11 months.

So I was thinking of buying it now but wasn't sure if that would be smart, which is why I wanted to get your opinion on it.

They did give me a residual value, but that's the value at the end of the 36 month term, so I'm not sure what it would be now.

No biggie.... I can just keep it till the end of the lease if it doesn't make sense to buy it now.

I don’t have any experience with Audi but everything you would need to make that decision
would be in your lease agreement. Out of pure curiosity I’d love to know what it says. In order to buy out your lease, I’m pretty sure you’d owe all your remaining payments plus whatever fees are stated in the contract.

So why do people get a lease? What's the big benefit to it? I've never had a lease before.

Not that I'm in the market. I grew up in a family that bought nice stuff and then drove it for a long time. Hell I still have my parents old work truck for utility purposes. 1997 GMC Sierra 2500. Still runs when I need to move or pull some shit.

The concept of a lease and it's benefits is hard for me to wrap my brain around.

How many miles/year you driving it. Worth keeping even with insurance and registration costs?

I'm wondering if I should keep an extra car or trade it in when I get a new one.

It’s really more of a benefit for businesses for the ease of writing off or for people who like to get in and out of cars quickly, usually 24-39 months.

Basically in most cases you can lease a 80k car for much less than a regular finance payment.

I mean in the long haul it would probably make more sense to rent something when occasionally. The insurance isn't much at this point and registration isn't bad.

You're talking to a guy with 4 vehicles and two drivers though. I've got my Challenger that's my daily driver. My wife's daily driver is a Caddilac CT5, we have an SUV for weekends and when we need to put 3 kids in a car at the same time. And then I have an old truck when I need to haul something.

It's certainly overkill but they all have a purpose.
