I went back through the last 20ish drafts and I think there are only maybe 2-3 years that even compare to Harrison/Nabers/Odunze at the top.

Brian Thomas would've been the top WR taken in at least 5-7 of the drafts over the last 20 years and went in the 20's last year.

Just kind of a fluke of a class.

Yea it's really nitpicking, a guy like Olave was very similar to Golden as a prospect and went 11th in 2022 in a stronger class.
I’d rather have Jayden Higgins in round 2. Reduce the risk, and get the big bodied guy Dak has never had

Last year wasn't just a strong class, it was one of the best WR classes at the top in the last 10-20 years.

As I said, I love Harmon and would take him over the WR's, but if you want to wait for a class like last year's to take a WR in the first you might be waiting another 5-10 years.

Just because it's an average WR class doesn't mean it's a reach to take Golden where he's projected to go.
I'll also say as much as I love this DT class, I love it for the depth. It's like the RB class. This RB class isn't special because it has multiple elite talents. It's special because the draft has like 30 RBs who would get drafted most years. DT has a ton of depth. But it isn't like this class features multiple elite DTs. I think Graham is elite. But after that it's just a lot of really good DT prospects. Which is why you may be able to get a legit starter in the third round.

Also I think TJ Sanders might be my pet cat at DT. I think the dude is really being slept on even though he is a second round prospect. He isn't 330 pounds (297 actually) but he makes some plays that really are impressive. I've seen him split the double team. I've seen him destroy a Georgia offensive lineman with a quick move. He is a guy who can take on the block but he can also avoid the block and make an O-lineman totally whiff. He lined up at NT and 3 tech and did great at both. I know everyone is thinking we need a "pure" NT. But I think we need DT's that can get upfield and stop the run. And this dude can do that.

Harmon is my pet cat at DT in the first. But I think TJ Sanders might be my pet cat in the second. I think him and Osa next to each other could cause some real issues for an O-line.

Olave was way more productive than Golden
Meh, Olave's best year was 65/936/13 (as a senior) and Golden's was 58/987/9 as a true junior.

Plus it's a new world with the transfer stuff, I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons Golden started slow last year and then went nuts towards the end was because he basically got on campus about three months before the season started.

Olave also had the benefit of playing with much more support talent around him.

Was he really though? His best year was 936 receiving yards. Golden's was 987 receiving yards.

Here is a fun comp

Player A 5'11" 3/4 183 pounds, 4.38 forty and 70 catches 1058 yards his final college season

Player B 5'11" 191 pounds, 4.29 forty and 58 catches for 987 yards his final college season

I guess you're trying to knock Golden for his production at Houston? I'll be honest, I haven't watched a minute of what he did at Houston. All I care about is what he did at Texas and I think you're crazy.

If Golden stayed in school another year I'm sure he'd put up even better numbers than this past season. He just wasn't a well known commodity coming into this season. But every game I watched of Texas he was the dude that caught my eye. But I'm sure some people who weren't watching just think he is getting a bump because of his forty. Honestly he could have ran a 4.4 forty and I'd feel the same way.

With both WRs I want still on the board, I'm trying to trade down a few spots and still get one of them. Barring a trade, I think I go with McMillan at 12. But I flip flop on which one I like better, depending on my mood. I'd be happy with either Tet or Golden.

If the trade return to drop further down is worth it, I could be talked into going down into the 20s and target Egbuka or even Burden. Maybe we could get extremely lucky and trade down a couple times and still end up with one of them.

I don't think I feel good enough about Burden to trade down for him and make him my top pick. I'd snag him in the second but I'm just not that high on him. If I trade into the 20s I'm praying Egbuka makes it to me. Frankly the 20s is probably too far for me to really want to risk trading down. Too many "wipe out" scenarios that leave me with a Mykel Williams, Stewart or Burden that are too risky for my taste. I guess there is always Hampton at that point. But maybe you roll the dice and get Egbuka or Green two guys I really like.

Yeah, Burden scares me. I like Golden and Egbuka (and the ISU guys) not just because of their games but because they're high character guys. I think that's important for functioning well inJerry's circus.

Burden's character worries me. I also don't see a guy who adjusts to the ball the way McMillan and Golden do. And I don't see the awesome route runner that Egbuka is.

Even though I know most have this as sort of a 4 top WR situation. I see it more as 3 WRs and Burden is closer to that second group then he is to those 3 in my book.

I think higher of Burden than you, C rock. I place him at the bottom of the first group, or the very top of the 2nd. Whichever you prefer.

And that's fair, I think he has some really good traits. I'm sure you'd get differing opinions even between NFL scouts who watch every snap of his college career.

I think the thing that sort of bothers me most is when I hear the talk about him not practicing very hard. Maybe that's just an old school mentality. It's not that the guy is a gang banger or beating women. But not really what I want to hear about a first round pick either.

All these stupid mock draft generator mostly with Jeanty still available at 12. I think that's a pipe dream at this point.

I was bouncing around and a bunch of the sites had Golden and McMillan gone by 12. Also very unlikely.

That's a decent class but I don't know what this guys obsession is with giving us an interior OL in the first few rounds.
I think the national people just know Martin is gone so they think we have to draft a replacement.
