Maybe Lawrence should have spent “more time winning” since we paid him $100 million to do so and he produced like five sacks a season afterwards.
I'll take Micah's podcast over D-Law's gas station quality ghey HotBoyzzzz jewelry any day.

I don't think we have ever been in on Kupp. But I will say things have happened quick this offseason for us. Didn't know we would go and get two solidish LBers for example until it was done. But so far I'm not sure we have shown any interest at WR. Not sure what that means or it could just mean we have no idea until something happens.
Maybe not but this, combined with the Stephens rumor makes me think there has to be something to all this.

They're rumored to be interested in a WR high in the draft as well, they should really take a look at Lockett or Allen here whose prices are probably going to be relatively reasonable.

Have you watched Lockett closely lately?

I haven't, but he used to be one of my favorite players so I'd keep half an eye on him. I know he's a first-class person. I'm afraid he might be completely washed, though. But maybe he has more left than I'm thinking. If he does, I'd love to add him because I think he'd be good for the young players -- more than some guys over the years who supposedly would be.

He's not completely washed, he's a passable WR2/reliable possession WR type, kind of similar to what Cooks was in 2023. I'd like to bring in someone like him (or ideally Allen) as insurance against Tolbert being our WR2 again.

I definitely don't want that.

If he still has his quickness, I think he'd at least be a good chain-mover. Seems like we've loved the taller, bigger WRs for years, but one thing I picked up from something BS said a while ago (maybe even when he was still OC?) is he didn't seem as stuck on the big body type as McCarthy. Plus I bet Lockett would be great in teaching Turpin about being more of a well-rounded WR and less of a gadget player.

Could be the Royce Freeman of this year.

But, he seems cooked and he's going to be 28.

My biggest concern is that they use this as an excuse to not draft anyone at RB.

Hell I want to see two RBs drafted or at least a second draftable guy from UDFA.
4th or 5th round would be good places to take a RB. You can get great value for the position there. Bucky Irving was a 4th rounder last year.

I would prefer the higher picks to be spent on DL, OL, LB, CB, WR. This team needs a lot of talent.

I know I shouldn't be surprised, but I can't believe this team, with all this cap space, won't sign AT LEAST one pro-bowl caliber player to help the team out.

I know they're never going to be aggressive or be big spenders in FA, but my God..... Can you not at least sign ONE fucking difference maker?

Just one????

If they don't spend a top 3 pick on a RB I'll change my tune, rolling with Williams/Sanders and a 5th is not a recipe for success, unless someone like Devin Neal or Dylan Sampson somehow drops to the 5th.

But I really can't see them waiting that long on a RB.
I agree. And sure you might find a fifth round RB who is a really good player. But the fact that you are ok with waiting that long would tell me you're not serious about RB. You just simply can not let all those talented RBs pass and bank on one of them falling to the fifth.

That's why I'm all for the double dipping. We still have like 3 fifth round picks. Odds are in this draft, RB will have some of the most talented guys still left by then. Better to take a guy who I think can be a starting RB as opposed to another Waletzko or something.

So I know I bash some of the advanced analytics stuff. I think it's subjective and easily manipulated. But my understanding is that his separation numbers are still good. So I think he would be a good number 2. Part of the reason his numbers probably dropped is just the fact that they had another young emerging WR. I think Smith-Njigba just stole targets from him as sort of their new number 1 WR. That's not a knock on Lockett. But with Metcalf outright demanding his targets. Lockett was just sort of stuck getting what ever was left.

With that being said Lockett is 32 years old and could fall off a cliff physically at any point. I'd sign him but in no way should that change our draft plans either.

Exactly. Signing Barnes and Sanders almost makes me think they plan on waiting in the draft and this is their hedge in case things break like last year where we missed out. Which makes some sense, but the problem is nether of these guys will be as good as that rookie would be. So I hope they still make an effort and almost act like we don't have these signees on the team.

I think I can take a third or fifth round RB who will be better then these two guys. But I get Williams still fitting in regardless. I think as a receiver and blocker he has a defined role that you typically worry about with a rookie RB. Blitz pickup is just one of those things that few rookies can step in and do at a high level. So Williams will fill that role until a rookie is ready regardless. And he has been a good receiver for the Broncos as well. 43 catches and over 7 yards a catch feels pretty good for an NFL RB. I think he has the ability to actually do something with the ball once he catches it.

But as a pure runner, I think I can find two guys who are better. And Miles Sanders doesn't really fit into any of it for me. That's just a shot in the dark, see if there is anything left signing. It's good to have some veteran presence and if you don't draft 2 RBs, Sanders probably makes the team as a third option competing against an undrafted guy.

Cowboys are basically Bengals South now. Ran by an incompetent, cheap family.

Jones inbreds were always incompetent post Jimmy, but they never seemed cheap.
They've been cheap for the last decade. But I guess in terms of since Jimmy 10 years isn't the majority of the time.

Yep. Thank God we still have our 4th. :unsure

And not even a 20 million a year guy. But they can't even do a 10 a year guy?
