Alright boys, it's that time of year again, the time where we theorize about what sorts of free agents could really bolster the roster while Stephen sits around with his thumb up his ass.

To make it easy on you I've broken down most of the available FA's at the positions we should be interested in (primarily RB, WR, DL and LB) into 3 tiers, based on the likelihood of Stephen being willing to offer them a small slice of pie.

I left out our own FA's, but I do think it's likely that we re-sign Lewis, Dowdle feels about 50/50, and then I'm sure we'll re-sign a few of our schlub ST's guys plus maybe another schlub or two like Edoga or Lawson. I think Lawrence and probably Golston are long gone, because they could ultimately just sign someone like DeMarcus Walker who is a very similar player to Golston, likely cheaper, and he has a history with the new defensive staff.

Never in a million years

Trevon Moehrig
Justin Reid
Jevon Holland
Talanoa Hufanga
Nick Bolton
Stefon Diggs
Khalil Mack
Chase Young
Chris Godwin
Josh Sweat
Jonathan Allen
Harold Landry
Trey Hendrickson (trade)

Maybe after Jerry shotguns a bottle of Johnny Blue, but probably not even then

Joey Bosa
Dayo Odeyingbo
Joseph Ossai
Azeez Ojulari
Cooper Kupp (trade)
Davante Adams
Haason Reddick
Tershawn Wharton
Levi Onwuzurike
DJ Jones
Javon Kinlaw
Patrick Jones II
Dre’Mont Jones
BJ Hill
Jarran Reed
Amari Cooper
Malcolm Koonce
Jamien Sherwood
Kyzir White
EJ Speed
Robert Spillane
Julian Blackmon
Charles Omenihu
Aaron Jones
Javonte Williams
Marcus Davenport
JK Dobbins
Najee Harris
Keenan Allen
Tyler Lockett

Now you're talking Stephen's language

Byron Cowart
DeMarcus Walker
Nick Chubb
AJ Dillon
Khalil Herbert
Derek Barnett
Poona Ford
Sebastian Joseph-Day
Will Hernandez
Jerome Baker
Elijah Moore
Deatrich Wise
Payton Turner
John Cominsky
Anthony Nelson
Sheldon Rankins
Adam Butler
Cody Barton
K’Lavon Chaisson
Darrell Taylor
Tyus Bowser

A reasonable, but not overly expensive haul could look something like: Javon Kinlaw, EJ Speed, Will Hernandez, DeMarcus Walker, Dayo Odeyingbo, Amari Cooper (why the fuck not?)

What I think is closer to reality: Byron Cowart, Will Hernandez, Darrell Taylor, Sebastian Joseph-Day, Elijah Moore, Nick Chubb (if Rico walks)

You sure wasted a ton of keystrokes on a a pipe dream.
Yeah I used to love doing this. Looking at the free agent lists. Picking out names of options within the cap room we have.

But now more than ever I feel like it's a total waste of my time. I wish this organization was normal.

In an ideal world I would add a RB before the draft, a vet corner, LBer and an Olineman at least. I'm not even talking starters. Just guys who can be role players. You know, cover for Diggs while he heals. Compliment the rookie RB who will take over half the carries. Someone to compete for RG with Bass and Hoffman.

Sure I would love a legit starting DT to use with Osa but we won't. I'd like probably a Vet DE to pair with Parsons, Williams and Kneeland.

Ultimately you want to at least cover the starting roles that will eventually be filled with Diggs and Overshown when they get healthy. Forcing rookie draft picks to fill those would be asinine.

I don't see how you don't make an attempt to sign Golston. There is nothing but question marks and holes on the DL outside of Parsons and Osa
I like Golston as a rotational piece. I'd bring him back on like a 5 mil a year type deal. You want Kneeland and Williams to beat him out but at least you know he is a solid rotational player. Which is also what I think Kneeland is now that you hope to become a legit starter. And Sam Williams is just a wild card. All the physical tools but someone needs to keep him under control and focused.

I assume they will, they just have to make sure no one offers him a stupid contract first.

That shouldn't happen, but you never know.

Golston is the type you may see come back after he tests the market. Again, I wouldn't blame the guy coming off a career year for seeing if he can get more money in free agency. This may be his only chance to cash in during his career.

Sadly I don't even think it would be that hard to get a contract done with Parsons. But we aren't trading him. And we aren't letting him leave.

If we aren't going to do shit again all offseason I'd explore trading Parsons but we won't. Only because trading Parsons for a couple of firsts and more would feel better than continuing to waste Parson's career.

Agreed. When has Jerry EVER traded an elite player instead of giving them a second contract? They LOVE the players they draft. Too much at times.

This is what these absolute morons get for waiting, I'm sure he'd have taken 36-37/year a few weeks ago, now it'll be damn near 40 if not more.

In reality Parsons doesn't deserve anywhere near what Garrett got.

Garrett is not a total liability against the run at DE.
