Not that it really hurts anything, but I'm pretty meh on this. Not like I've studied him closely but my impression is he's fallen off a lot from what he was.

It does make me think maybe they're fairly locked in on the DT and wanted to not have to reach if Jeanty is gone and they don't like how the second or third round falls.

Why DT?

They signed Odighizuwa for big money and they still have Taco Mazi.

He's 24 yrs old. Not really worried about his 'falling off from what he was.' And he's cheap, on a one year deal. We're not married to him. Hell, if we cut him in camp, it's not going to make much of a difference to our cap. This guy's best case scenario (for him) is being looked at as a 2. In reality, he's probably more of a 3.

Right, not the end of the world but he's not what he was before his big knee injury. He was pretty darn good a couple of years ago, whenever that was.

He was a good bit more established than Williams is right now, although I think Williams has the potential to be close to a Montgomery or even Conner if he can stay healthy.
Yeah was just making a point about YPC not really being that indicative.

He looked like a beast his rookie year. He hasn't been thought of the same since the knee injury in his second year. Obviously Sean Payton liked him but I don't think his role was at all the same. Payton valued him more as a receiving RB than anything. Which is cool. Maybe that's his role here.

But I think he could be more. And if he isn't? Who cares, 3.5 mil is chump change these days.

The small contractual details are what separates Goof Son and Waiter Cap Boi from the likes of Howie Roseman.
These hindsight takes are funny. Last year at this time, there wasn't a big rush for teams to sign him. And how many here were honestly worried about them signing him? I remember a few laughing at the signing.

Depth, backup mostly
Has started 30 games and I can honestly tell you nothing about the guy.

I will say, I hate how we use free agency for nothing but 1 year deals. Like is there no one worth wanting to add to your team beyond a one year prove it deal? These moves literally never benefit us long term.

And every year we are replacing these guys with more guys of similar ilk.
