2 of the 4 years Montgomery was with the Bears his YPC was under 4 as well. With the Lions he is a beast.YPC is very overrated.

Watch the deal Najee Harris gets. I'd take Williams over him.
That dude is so overrated.
Advantage: Goof Son.
Yeah I prefer Williams over that.

He was a good bit more established than Williams is right now, although I think Williams has the potential to be close to a Montgomery or even Conner if he can stay healthy.2 of the 4 years Montgomery was with the Bears his YPC was under 4 as well. With the Lions he is a beast.
Why DT?Not that it really hurts anything, but I'm pretty meh on this. Not like I've studied him closely but my impression is he's fallen off a lot from what he was.
It does make me think maybe they're fairly locked in on the DT and wanted to not have to reach if Jeanty is gone and they don't like how the second or third round falls.
That's why.Why DT?
They signed Odighizuwa for big money and they still have Taco Mazi.
He's 24 yrs old. Not really worried about his 'falling off from what he was.' And he's cheap, on a one year deal. We're not married to him. Hell, if we cut him in camp, it's not going to make much of a difference to our cap. This guy's best case scenario (for him) is being looked at as a 2. In reality, he's probably more of a 3.Not that it really hurts anything, but I'm pretty meh on this. Not like I've studied him closely but my impression is he's fallen off a lot from what he was.

You know damn good and well this is not how they operate. That's why.
Right, not the end of the world but he's not what he was before his big knee injury. He was pretty darn good a couple of years ago, whenever that was. He's 24 yrs old. You're right. You know damn good and well this is not how they operate.
Yeah was just making a point about YPC not really being that indicative. He was a good bit more established than Williams is right now, although I think Williams has the potential to be close to a Montgomery or even Conner if he can stay healthy.
These hindsight takes are funny. Last year at this time, there wasn't a big rush for teams to sign him. And how many here were honestly worried about them signing him? I remember a few laughing at the signing.
The small contractual details are what separates Goof Son and Waiter Cap Boi from the likes of Howie Roseman.
Strange one, I'm surprised they picked this guy over Will Hernandez.
Depth, backup mostly
