I simply expect consistent elite qb play for what he is paid.So paying someone 60 mil means that a player is going to play perfect? Who gives a shit about the money. Would you be thrilled with the performance if he made 50 mil instead?
Like I said before, the guy is not some sort of elite weapon that we should be designing plays for as often as we do, but he's also not some total waste of space out there either.Speaking of which, Turpin was pretty solid also.
We need WR and RB help bad, that WR core isn't great even with Tolbert supplanting Cooks.I said during the week that Cooks was more or less our 4th option in the passing game now, even before last night I think Tolbert had supplanted him slightly as the WR2.
I don't think he'll ever be better than average 2/very good 3, but that's still valuable considering how terrible he was as a rookie.
Lamb/Ferguson/Tolbert/Cooks is the passing game pecking order moving forward, which isn't great, but it's not terrible either. The real issue is that our running game is putrid.
If the league were uncapped there'd be no reason to care about money but it's a zero sum game. When you pay a player $60m, you have way less to pay the guys around him, and so you need him to really elevate the guys around him.So paying someone 60 mil means that a player is going to play perfect? Who gives a shit about the money. Would you be thrilled with the performance if he made 50 mil instead?
I think they're just trying anything they can to generate some big plays. He's one of the only guys we have besides CeeDee with that ability.Like I said before, the guy is not some sort of elite weapon that we should be designing plays for as often as we do, but he's also not some total waste of space out there either.
He can and does make plays both as a receiver and occasionally on a sweep play of some sort.
The trouble we run into is when we try to overuse him as if he's an elite gadget player when he's not.
It's a sunk cost. You paid him. He is who he is. You over paid him, under paid him, or paid him just right none of that matters now. It's done. Saying you need him to play like a 60 mil dollar QB means nothing. If you buy a $100,000 car and the engine blows, yelling at the car that you paid $100,000 and expect perfection will get you nowhere. It's nice that Dak had a decent fourth quarter, but it remains apparent what he is. No, he's not "Quincy Carter with a broken arm," but when you pay a guy $60m and then can't surround him with big talent everywhere you need him to make up for that and too often he does not.
Well he will get some supreme coaching next year when we bring in Deion as HC.Like I said before, the guy is not some sort of elite weapon that we should be designing plays for as often as we do, but he's also not some total waste of space out there either.

We need Dak to not make the boneheaded interception or hold the ball to long, or we just need him to play better. All valid things. But saying it's because he is making 60 mil is a pointless thing to say.
Isn't the contract guaranteed? It is and it isn't.
If his salary is hurting the construction of the team, at some point you can get rid of him.
all but 9 million I believe.Isn't the contract guaranteed?
Yeah, so I guess we can argue if Dak is worth 9 mil or something.all but 9 million I believe.
I agree with that. Of course without the 350 yards passing including some big time throws the game isn't close for other reasons. He gets credit for the final drive, but the game was only close because of his fuckups (two picks and a fumble).
Extremely valid to say we are wasting money other places too.Isn't the contract guaranteed?
Besides we have 20+ mil in cap room now. I need Dlaw to play like a 20 mil DE. Hell Zeke counts like 8 mil against the cap. I need him to play like an 8 million dollar RB (6mil is dead money). But saying those things is just as meaningless as saying it about Dak.
The "he's not worth it" conversation isn't necessarily just about whether he should immediately be moved but also whether it should be a lesson we should learn for the future (it is, but we won't).Yeah, so I guess we can argue if Dak is worth 9 mil or something.
