I don't know if I buy that logic. If they ever won that'd be one thing, but they don't even have memories to fall back on.

I'd take the cowboys situation as bleak as it is right now, 10 out of 10 times over dealing with never having won at all.
Yeah, but this logic only applies if you're over the age of 40.

If I'm a 35 year-old fan, 10 out of 10 times I'd rather be in the Bills situation.

Like if I were a Dolphins fan I wouldn't give two shits about the Super Bowl wins from the early-70s.

Again, that's the whole point though -- I know the feeling of having seen my team win a championship.

@Genghis Khan is the only who seems to get what I was saying. It's about having find memories to fall back on, not what our current situation or future trajectory is.

Being a Cowboys fan sucks. Unless that family sells, I'll probably never see them win again.

But why am I still here now? Because of those championships that I witnessed.

I would not be here today if the Cowboys had the Bills history because I wouldn't have ever experienced a "reward" for my fandom, so to speak.

And going through what Bills fans have gone through without ever tasting a championship would have made me quit years ago.

There's no way you can convince me that it's worse being a Cowboys fan than a Bills fan.
Nobody has to get it the way you do. Everybody fans the way they fan. I was talking more about present time when I brought this up. Those championships are so distant and frankly feels like a completely different franchise. Hell we used to make fun of the fans like in Cleveland, Detroit, Philly that would bring up their championships from years past. That's us right now.

Yes. Everybody would rather have won than not. It's just hard to hang your hat on that when the franchise is run like it is- with no hope.

Yeah, I'm glad Ace feels that way, but to me being a Buffalo fan is 100x what we have. They have one of the best teams and one of the best two or three QBs in the league. They're perennial contenders. It's too bad for them they have Michael Jordan in their conference, but they're still one of the best teams in football.

I get what you're saying. Personally I'd be okay being a fan of a franchise like the Chargers or Bills. For me all I ask is that the team puts in an honest effort to improve the team and win a championship. As long as I see the team is operating in the best interest of the fans, I'm fine.

That's what makes being a Cowboys fan so frustrating......because they're not even trying. They've taken their fan base for granted and are only in it for the money.

I disagree, but I do think it depends on the person.

When I was a kid growing up in the 80s I used to take books out in the library to read about our old Superbowl teams from the 70s. I still revered and enjoyed those teams even though I only barely remembered them if at all.

And I used to play an old computer game called micro League football where you could build rosters from previous eras or play with those teams and I used to love playing with the 78, 77 and 71 cowboys.

You can still have pride in those old teams even if you don't remember them or barely do.

As an aside, Madden really needs to find a way to have the ability to play with old teams and players. There's enough money to go around. It'd be a game changer.

It's been a few years since I've played Madden. They took out the historical teams? That used to be a standard feature.

Now that I can totally get.

If you never witnessed the Cowboys win anything, I have no idea why you'd still be a fan now.

They took that out???

I haven't played Madden in years but historical teams used to always be in the games.

Yeah, KC doesn't bother me either.

No rivalry with the Cowboys, Andy Reid is a likeable guy, and outside of the flopping, Mahomes is alright too.
Plus Clark Hunt (say that slow) is neighbors with Jerry so he can rub that in Jerry's face.

Of course Jerry just comes back at him with the Forbes list, but maybe it hurts him a little.

I don't remember them being in it but maybe I just didn't notice? I always found the newer interfaces confusing. :unsure
Honestly man, it's been so long since I played Madden that it's quite possible that they removed it back when I was still playing but just never noticed.

But I remember it being in all of the 90s and 2000s games.

In fact, Madden 2001 (the first Madden on PS2) had classic stadiums too! You could play in the old Astrodome, for example.

It's crazy how the games are more expensive and take much more development time now but are missing half the features from the old games.

For the record after a sloppy and insufficient Google search I see a bunch of people complaining that historic rosters are not in Madden so it is either not in there or it is the Mandela effect.

I stopped played NBA2K years ago as well but I believe that game still includes all the classic teams.

It should be a standard feature for sports games, especially Madden since the game receives such incremental changes from one year to the next.

They obviously have the development time to put that back in the game so they have no excuse not to.

Per Grok:

The most recent Madden football games do not include historic teams or players as official, pre-built features within the game. The last Madden game to feature historic teams was Madden NFL 25 released in 2013, which included the "Canton Greats" team, essentially an All-Time Greats team featuring players from the NFL Hall of Fame.

While historic players and teams are not officially included in recent editions, players can engage with historic content through Madden Ultimate Team (MUT), where legends and historic players can be obtained via card packs. For example, recent posts on X have shown that legends like Tom Brady, Terrell Suggs, and Joe Horn have been available in MUT for Madden 23 and Madden 25.

Moreover, community-created rosters and mods can add historic teams or players to the game for those interested in playing with historical lineups, although these are not officially supported by the game itself.
