To you that's "all" Jerry had to do, but Jerry hates doing that.

Think about it.... In all the years he's owned the team he's only fired a guy in-season ONE time, and that was Wade Phillips after he started 1-7.
And he had a guy already in place so it didn't cost him any extra money.

I was talking about defense, which is his specialty. The cupboard is hardly full in Dallas. After Parsons and Diggs and maybe Bland, you either got question marks or guys who flat out can't play due to age or lack of ability.

Parsons alone would intrigue just about any defensive coach.

I don't think Jerry is desperate enough to give a coach that much power again. He did it with Parcells because we were coming of three straight 5-11s and he needed that new stadium. Unless this team does a 5-11 -- which I doubt -- I can't see him walking on eggshells again.
That's the biggest roadblock right there to this happening -- he may not be desperate enough to make that type of move again.

However, there is nothing Jerry loves more than headlines and attention, and hiring Bill Belichick would make the Cowboys the talk of the NFL for at least that entire first season with him as coach.

I know, but devil's advocate... We're already the talk of the NFL. Even when we suck.

I'm not even sure three 5-11s in a row would be enough. I think the new stadium was the key to Jerry wanting Parcells.

Exactly.

It was a very unique set of circumstances to led to Jerry doing that and being "ok" with firing a coach midseason.

One, the HC got off to a disastrous start with a team that many viewed as being quite talented, and a guy who Jerry was absolutely in love with was already on the team to replace the aforementioned HC.

There's no other time in franchise history where that sort of scenario presented itself so that was a total anomaly.

Not firing McCarthy doesn't necessarily mean Jerry doesn't really want Belichick, it could just mean he doesn't want him enough to pay McCarthy for sitting at home while also having to negotiate a big time contract for Belichick at the same time.

Again, I agree.

It was the stadium, not necessarily the losing that was the driving factor in Jerry making that sacrifice.

Most likely won't be Belichick so I will start the Shadeur and Dieon to Dallas campaign.
Along with them two our fans will be required to wear Guardian caps.

No chance. Some idiot team will take a chance on him high. Much more high than we'd be willing to trade up to. (thank God)

And I have a feeling Deion will want to follow his spawn. Think some place like NY.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bill hired here. The Jer is fuckin ancient now, he might look at him as the last best chance to win something before he's gone. I wouldn't expect him to win a championship tho.

That's of course the big issue though.
"You’ve got a very significant problem in the NFL with dead money for coaches. :crazyAnd it’s because you’ve got extended contracts, to where if you let somebody go, you’ve got to pay off their contract. It’s gotten to be so much of an issue that you can decide if you want to do what you do this year and reshuffle the cards next year with them. There’s nothing that says I won’t be extending those coaches next year. They’re all good coaches. Obviously. That’s just the way I do it.
"I’m doing it, to be very candid with you, because we have such a problem with dead money with coaches in the NFL. :crazySo, that’s what I’m trying to avoid."
