I wouldn't mind him back in his 2022 role. The good news is I don't think he has an ego like Zeke where that would be a problem. But I'm open to more powerful options. Either way we desperately need 2 RBs.

In what way was it a problem with Zeke? Zeke never complained in 2022 and had an even lesser role with NE in 23 and as far as I know never complained there either.

I don't dislike Tony, but I don't even want him back.

(Unless he's super cheap, which he won't be.)

I'd take him back if he's cheap (and he actually might be), but even then I'd be looking for a starter in FA or the draft. None of Pollard, Dowdle or Deuce are starters.

Which is why I'd prefer someone else in free agency because I'd rather sign a guy I feel ok starting so that we're not desperate in the draft.

How about Pollard and a mid round pick like Estime?

Neither is a "starter" exactly but a 50/50 split would be pretty solid.

I worry about that because if someone gets injured, then what. But it would probably work better than this year did.

Then we're back to Dowdle in a time share, which isn't great but it's not the end of the world. We were the 2 seed in the conference after all with that set up all year.

Yeah and I obviously think Estime is capable of carrying a workload. You just may want a speedy guy to compliment it but that's not the end of the world. Hell maybe the midget can get a carry or two if that happened. Or some passes.

My only problem with resigning Pollard is that it eliminates some of the RB options in the draft because you don't really want to pair him with Jaylen Wright for example.

Exactly what I was thinking. If we keep Pollard, we might feel compelled to get a "bigger" back in the draft. And what if the draft doesn't fall that way?

That's how we end up with picks like Bossman Fat.

I agree although if you look at the Combine formal interviews, they are all big RBs. So that may already be what they want in the draft.

Yeah, that's true. I'm hoping we're looking at the bigger backs no matter what else happens in FA.
