Don't know if this was posted by the way. Enjoy, @Smitty . :unsure

The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports a trade of Rams CB Jalen Ramsey to Dallas is "picking up steam in league circles."
The Dallas secondary struggled in the second half of last year after losing CB Jourdan Lewis to IR. Ramsey could be a fit for the Cowboys, who believe they are 'one piece away from being an elite defense.' Pairing Ramsey with Treevon Diggs would give the Cowboys one of the top corner tandems, but wouldn't come cheap, likely costing Dallas a first-round pick and a new contract extension.
Bad idea

What's he worth on the market? That's the real question. May just require us to let him see what he is worth and then come back to us to match. We did that with LVE last year. I think we sort of did the same thing with Kearse if I remember correctly. I honestly don't know what Wilson's value is. He has only been in the league 4 years but he is already 28 years old. He was really good last year. 2021 was an injured year where he barely played. And he was really good in 2019. Didn't do much as a rookie.

So I don't know what he is worth. He is a really good safety but not probowl or elite. And what's that worth at 28 years old?

I'd go up to about $8M/year, something like 4/$32M, I might even go up to 8.5-9 on a good day, but that's an absolute ceiling.

Kearse got 10 mil, 2 years. Kearse was better in 2021 for his contract year than Wilson was for his contract year. And they were basically the same age. I'm probably offering a similar contract to Kearse.

I'd maybe do 4/$28M for Wilson. He is pretty dang good, maybe more athletic than Kearse.

I said this before. Kearse's contract is it.

He earned that. Wilson played damn well last year but he did not do anything close to Kearse's impact in 2021.

That's my thought. I'll take them as a tandem for 10 mil a year. But I'm not going higher.

Wilson is more versatile and the better overall player, Kearse was and is awesome in his very specific role but Wilson can do more and is our most explosive hitter in the entire secondary, Quinn often referred to him as one of the primary tone setters on defense in terms of physicality. He was a man possessed against the 49ers crashing down on all the Deebo action.

I get the argument that he should be valued somewhere around the same price as Kearse, and I wouldn't blame them at all for letting him go if he gets somewhere around $8M elsewhere, but I think that's fair value for him and I'd be fine giving him something like 3/24.

That'd make him something like the 20th highest paid safety alongside such luminaries as Marcus Maye, Tracy Walker and Rayshawn Jenkins.

That's plenty fair to me.

Yep, that's what makes Wilson special. Nobody at that position, or really on the entire defense, hits like he does. Don't see how we replace that.

We talk about Muku, but to me he's more a Kearse than a Wilson.

So, what…apparently we have a line to 30M in cap space, with another 8-12M possible on top of that and even more if Dak is extended with a new contract? Should be plenty to resign Wilson, add a couple dynamic FAs, and go into the draft ready to get difference makers with our picks.

How bad does PT and Goof really want to win?
If Rodgers goes to the Jets there’s only SF with an unsettled QB situation and the Eagles in our way to a SB. It’s now or never I believe.
