Yeah plus every player who was picked after 26 could have been picked at 26. So now you're assuming that drafting at 26 makes you bad at drafting.
I know I am homering out, we have avoided some mistakes along the way.

But do not forget the grudge I have over Taco Charlton. OMG

We've had three good years in a row, don't you think we're kind of due for a clunker? Or at least an average year. :tippytoe

I don't think so.

I may have been infected from a homer virus that escaped from a lab.
It'll be years before we can roll a vaccine out for it.

The interesting thing in listening to Stephen's interview today is how much he stressed how hard it is to find TE's coming out of college who are threats as receivers while also being able to block.

He also said that they usually only have 15-16 or so first round grades and how if one of them is there at 26 it'd be a "blinking light". This makes me think Mayer is very likely a first rounder on their board and that if he's there he'd likely be the top rated guy.

He also randomly mentioned Martellus Bennett and how some thought he could even play some OT if he gained weight, which is exactly what people say about Washington, so I wonder if he's on their minds as well.

So I’m missing the conclusion that Mayer is likely one of their first rounders solely based on their having identified 15-16 first rounders total.

Didn’t he start talking about TEs only because he was asked specifically about the position?

Yeah and he raved about Ferguson's ability ro be a blocker and a great receiver. Definitely sounded really high on him.

The Marty B part was interesting though because he mentioned his blocking but never seemed to mention his impact as a pass catcher. Not sure what to make of that. If anything it makes me think guys like Kincaid aren't so high on our board.

Honestly the TE part didn't make me think they would take Mayer as much as it did make me think they want a TE who is a blocker and catcher.

As far as first round grades, Stephen at least made it sound like they don't know how many first round graded they have yet. That may have just been trying to be coy though. Unlike Jerry, Stephen at least knows not to spill the beans.

I don't think they asked him specifically about TE, that's where he took the conversation. The point about Mayer was that he went on and on about how hard it is to find TE's coming out of college who project as a classic inline TE (i.e the type they prefer) and that Mayer is basically exactly that.

So is Kraft, so is LaPorta...

But he also said Ferguson is that.

Great, my point is that he made a specific point to talk about how hard it is to find classic inline TE's (and specifically say that is the type they prefer, presumably because they watched Witten for 15 years) and that Mayer, who is the consensus top TE in the class, is exactly that.

It's not too much of a leap to see where this could be going if he's there at 26.

I'm sure they're open to other possibilities depending on who else is there at 26 but Mayer is going to be very strongly in the mix if available, and that's the point.

Are you sure it's Mayer and not Washington? When he was talking about Martellus being able to move to OT I thought that was where his mind was.

Marty B is a good comp to Washington in my opinion but I can't see how you could rate him as top 16ish.

I think it tells you Mayer is higher than Kincaid on our board. And yeah, I would think Mayer fits the description. But so do other TEs, that's all I'm saying.

You can't see it but that doesn't mean it's not true. We have seen some headscratchers (according to other rankings) on their board before.

Yeah no one would have thought Tyler Smith last year was in the teens on our board. So who knows.
