He's not calling plays so his history is less relevant, but is this not basically the formula everyone wants for Dak?
It is, and Seattle did did well enough offensively under Schottenheimer. Hopefully some sort of merging between that and McCarthy's offense will lead to something passable enough to score 20-24 a game in the playoffs, because ultimately I think that's all we'll really need with a defense that I expect to be top 3 in the league.

I am not trying to depress you all.

It could work out, you know?

I mean all of these bozos and lifers could just come together and support Fat Mike to get the offense running along with Quinn performing a hat-trick with the defense.
The defense is legitimately going to be one of the best in the league, that's not a hope or prayer, that's a reality.

We'll see whether or not McCarthy/Schottenheimer can get their shit in gear enough to complement that, because clearly it didn't happen against SF.

This is fine. He’s just there to help gameplanning and guide Dak along when his urge to go full retard comes up.

Yeah, I really don't care where we are in the regular season rankings for yards and points. Just create a system that's more efficient and gets Dak throwing fewer interceptions. We should be, maybe not to the same extent, but more like the offense we had under Rush: Fewer points but fewer mistakes, too.

Is it now?

So say we do zero other than bring back the same guys on defense? We need to address that too.

What I want is direction and control. It is one thing to gobble up yards, but if it is not situationally sound with regards to where the game is, the effect is spoiled. If this is what makes that happen, that is part of the battle.

Considering how the defense played in the playoffs, combined of course with how well they played for about 75% of the year, yes I think they'll be a top 3ish unit even if we don't make any significant additions.

Obviously this requires keeping the majority of the FA's on that side of the ball, but even with that said it's hard to see us not adding at least a solid roleplayer or two in the draft.

Cowboys fans will be happy to hear that hiring Schottenheimer would likely mean a move away from the hitch/curl routes that were so frequently leaned on during Moore's tenure as offensive coordinator. The Cowboys targeted hitch routes the fourth most in the NFL; however, Schottenheimer appears to favor routes where his receivers are on the move rather than a stationary target, as his offenses are littered with drive, shallow-cross, spear and “China” passing game concepts — none of which have a stop, curl or hitch route baked into the basic play.
this alone gives me a modicum of hope.

You know, Im so over Moore that Im willing to give Schottenheimer a chance to prove himself. Same goes for McCarthy calling plays.

Lets go! If it sucks, then shit can both of them.

Try "Everything sucks no matter what we do."
Well, is Jerry Jones still the owner and GM? Is Goof Son considered the top personnel official?

Dealing with things that are eternal and forever is tough.
