I don't think that's necessarily true. But if you wait for others to come to you, you'll miss out on a lot of opportunities. And the calls Dallas does get are probably teams thinking that they have found a sucker.
You don't get a better offer when someone comes to your house trying to sell a vacuum as opposed to going to a store to buy a vacuum you like.
I think it's generally true and yes I think you tend to get a better deal on the vacuum cleaner if they come to you rather than if you go to a store. The more desperate side tends to lose a negotiation.
But I do agree that they should be reaching out to other teams about potential deals. I'm not saying they should be sitting around waiting for the phone to ring and they seem historically to be terrible trade negotiators. I'm just saying there's merit philosophically to what he's saying and if you're looking at the end result of them not getting a deal done at the deadline that dynamic could be part of why and I'd rather see that result than an overpay.
