I don’t think it’s a California term. They lump it in and call it a bucket or fishing hat here.

I think I got the term from Amazon, so it’s probably a China term, since that’s where it was made.

I call it a boonie hat. Goes to the military term, like you're wearing it in the jungle or bush or wherever. But I'll call it a bucket also. To me, a bucket has a little bigger brim on it than a boonie.
