Never heard it called a bucket either, but at least that makes more sense than boonie.I don’t think it’s a California term. They lump it in and call it a bucket or fishing hat here.
As an aside, is there a ‘@‘ callout that would flag a notification for all members, like @dccNever heard it called a bucket either, but at least that makes more sense than boonie.
I think I got the term from Amazon, so it’s probably a China term, since that’s where it was made.Never heard it called a bucket either, but at least that makes more sense than boonie.

It's white. Like this one...You will score so many cool points with us if it’s a fashion black jersey

What in the world is going on right now? How have I never heard that term. We just call it a fishing hat. Is this what we are talking about?I call it a boonie hat. Goes to the military term, like you're wearing it in the jungle or bush or wherever. But I'll call it a bucket also. To me, a bucket has a little bigger brim on it than a boonie.
Nice color, CraigWhat in the world is going on right now? How have I never heard that term. We just call it a fishing hat. Is this what we are talking about?

See here... Maybe I call it that because that because one of the first ones I got years ago was at an actual army surplus store. What in the world is going on right now? How have I never heard that term. We just call it a fishing hat. Is this what we are talking about?

Maybe the "boonie" means more of the camo type like jsmith said. I have a few sports-logoed New Era hats that I'd call a bucket hat, so maybe the military style makes the difference.
The maroon one you posted? I'd just call that an 80-year-old-man hat.
I am embarrassed to not have known this.Pic just above this post
I can't wait for @NoDak to chime in on this
