Does it matter that we've beaten so many teams with a winning record this year? Seems like in past years people have argued that well, yeah, we've won a lot of games but we've only beaten one or two teams with a winning record... followed by the counter that that's the case for a lot of winning teams, you can only play who's on your schedule, etc.

I think it does. Beating the Los Angeles Rams, the Cincinnati Bengals, the New York Giants (2x), the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Minnesota Vikings is not trivial. Tampa Bay and Green Bay look to be the weakest teams we lost to. Jax is in the tourney currently.
It speaks to our ability . Level of execution seems to always be an unknown.

None of it matters until we see either Philly or San Fran again.

Ceedee is great. Our problem and my concern all offseason is about WR2 and WR3.

He has really impressed me over the second half of the season and he's shown the he is definitely capable of being a #1.

They will need to address it, but they better get some talent at DT and some CB depth first. Last few times this team has lost in the playoffs it's been directly because the DTs sucked.
Need a big fat NT (re-sign Hankins?) and a dynamic 3T.

Yes, exactly.

I'm hoping that Gallup will be even better next year with his knee at 100%, but we should still try to find someone to add that can be a difference maker at the position.

But DT and CB are absolutely much greater needs and that would be my priority before receiver.

Yes and no. It tells us they'll probably beat their first round opponent, but I don't think beating the Vikings or Giants or whoever says anything about their ability to beat Philly or SF later in the playoffs.

Even the Eagles game the other day doesn't say much to me other than we can obviously compete against the eagles. But I don't think a 4 turnover performance is something we can count on.

That's the part I struggle with and I still don't think they can.

And this is what I mean.... The Cowboys would have to cut out all of the bad habits that they've shown us all season long.

Not only that, they'd have to do it for 4 weeks straight against the best teams in football.

It's not impossible, but it's hard to imagine them being able to just flip a switch and do that.

I think we need to beat a team thats equal to or better than us. SF is my true measure in the NFC.

I’d be able to handle any potential upcoming loss better if I knew we had a FO who would make sure this current roster stayed intact (outside of guys like Schultz, Zeke, LVE etc) AND went out and signed real talent at DT, WR, CB, and LB. This would assure this core is most likely competing in the playoffs in 23. But that’s the issue, it will be the same thing, just as always…letting good guys go, bargain shopping, complaining about the cap, worried about resigning guys, more PT gaslighting by the greatest huckster of all time. It’s maddening.

So McCarthys tenure has produced back to back double digit win/playoff appearance seasons for the first time in forever. Now the measure is about advancing in the playoffs . I’m hopeful that despite the cheap bastardos least efforts we can advance.
