Dak is mentally fragile.
He's not been the same since the injury against NE and it took him nearly a full season to bounce back from the nightmare Atlanta game in 2017.
He definitely holds onto turmoil and takes a long time to work out from it. He seemed okay until the calf thing and since then he really just seems he forgot how to play. His feet and overall internal clock are all rushed and all over the place now.

Pretty cool what Ferg said about Rush and being quiet.

Also, did Steve Young say Dak couldn't make reads? I didn't think so. I'm sure Dak appreciates Helman's love, though.

Gregory has forced a couple fumbles so he is making an impact. He just does not always finish very well.
Nor does he play very long.

Gregory looks amazing when everything goes right. Bends like few can and has awesome closing speed.

But you’ll see that highlight reel talent very rarely per snap.

And the ‘pressure’ stat is basically one of the dumbest stats kept. IMO a ‘pressure’ must affect the play negatively or it’s not worth tracking. I don’t care if Gregory gets close a lot. Is he causing bad throws?

I think there is some truth to what Young was saying. In fact, I remember having the same complaints about Romo needing to just run the offense around the 2011-2013 timeframe.
Romo had good reason to go off script having one of the worst defenses and OL’s around

Dak had no excuse last year

Dak wasn't making backbreaking mistakes like Romo did though. Like you said, we would win or lose based on Romo's arm and his ability to make plays in the air to Dez and Witten, who were arguably the top two players on the team in that 2011-13 era.

So it's understandable, but while Dak wasn't making many big time plays over the second half of last year, he also wasn't turning the ball over left and right and giving away the game.

I give Stephen Jones shit a lot, but if he fashioned a mini-Manziel mojo moment here, I would have to give him a little credit.

He's not an elite top 5 QB but he's also generally someone you can win a Super Bowl with if the team around him is strong enough. If anything he's most guilty of not having some god damn self awareness and taking a discount in hopes that these dumbfuck hillbillies can somehow build a Super Bowl team around him.

There's immensely more upside in winning a Super Bowl and the money that would roll in as a result, as opposed to squeezing every last cent he can get out of a contract negotiation, particularly on a 2nd big contract when he already has presumably at least $150-200 million or so in the bank.

If I was him I'd look for another extension around $35-40/year, which would be a pretty huge discount all things considered, as long as I got assurances from the front office that they'd re-invest the savings on the roster rather than rolling over cap space for years on end.
