Now I understand why we extended Noah Brown and let Ced Wilson go...

I don't want to poo poo a guy who did what you want him to do. He completed the open throws. But man Hurts had it easy. Guys just wide open, no pressure and simple manufactured reads. I have no idea what the Vikes were doing schematically, it was awful.
Hurts kind of reminded me of 2016 Dak last night with an OL giving him 4+ seconds to throw with massive windows to throw into with WR's running wide open. He made a couple of nice tight window throws but for the most part guys were open in acres of space.

In 2016 that was mostly because we had the best running game in the league, last night I think it was more about the Vikings defense being putrid, not ready to play and refusing to adjust.

We'll see how the rest of the year goes but Hurts does look improved, their OL is really good and they have a cohesive offensive design that gives defenses lots to consider.

I think they're about equal to us when Dak is healthy but with him up in the air they're the clear favorites for the division.

But like I said, their roster is in an interesting stage similar to the Chargers where they can afford to go wild in FA and spend a bunch of money on the rest of the roster because the QB is making $2M/year. Of course that then makes the QB look better than they are, or better than they will be if/when the team decides to pay them $40M/year.

With Herbert that isn't a concern because he's clearly a rare talent so you're fine paying him whatever, but with Hurts he's clearly not that. So they can enjoy their expensive roster this year and next but are they going to start over at QB if they make the playoffs 2-3 years in a row or are they going to pay Hurts 40+/year knowing that they could be screwing themselves because he's been propped up by a bunch of expensive FA's all across the roster?

It's a story that plays itself out over and over, the difference is that a team like the Chargers are probably a legit SB contender during this window while the Eagles are more just paper tigers similar to what we were last year.

What? I actually don't know if Jerry realizes it's not Wilson. Could he really be that drunk/out of touch?
If we see a Jap play calling for Noah to throw a left handed pass, we'll know.

I think Young is right.

Dak just hasn't looked right ever since the injury last year.

At first I thought it was because he wasn't completely over the injury, but obviously that's not the case now.

So while it may have been an injury that started it all, there's something that affected him psychologically or something because the struggles and bad mechanics have carried over.

I hope it's not too late to fix him.

I don't think it was Hogeboom he messed up. Maybe Phil Pozderac?
Sports Illustrated, 1984:

"My second year here," said Gary Hogeboom, the new Dallas starting quarterback, "coach [Tom] Landry said, 'If I pronounce anybody's name wrong, just come and tell me.' He was calling me Hogenboom and sometimes Hogenbloom, so I said 'What the heck? I might as well give it a shot.' I told him, 'Coach, you pronounce my name Hoag-a-boom.' He said, 'Gary, when you become a starter, I'll learn how to pronounce your name.'"

I think there was another one he messed up publicly though when talking to the press. About a backup OL that was going to start. Long time ago, but that's my recollection.

I am not convinced that he can be fixed. Once a player loses confidence and mojo, they are done. I think Prescott is getting to those crossroads.

If there is one thing Rush does is try to set himself and understands his lack of arm talent.

Some of the stupid mechanics Prescott displays are what you would see from a guy with a damn Howitzer arm.

He is pushing because he does not have the arm necessary unless he is not pressured. Teams don't fear his running as those days are over. And that is exactly what made him briefly special. If there is one thing most of top guys have is mobility. Herbert does not, but he can move when necessary and has the cannon right arm.
