Guessing Week 5 for McCarthy to have his moment, albeit with a slack-jawed, sloven mumble.

And supposing you got the #1 overall pick and a perfect QB candidate was there, the Cowboys would trade down for piss poor trade value preferring to “reload” rather than rebuild.

Part of this wouldn't be a bad idea. The draft haul you can get for a team trading to the top of the draft for a QB can be immense. We don't sign free agents so having multiple firsts for years would be huge for this franchise.

But we never pull off those types of blockbuster trades. Instead we would trade down like a spot or two and bungle the extra pick up by taking some random dude because we weren't prepared to have the extra pick. But spinning one first into multiple first and second round picks would actually be something this franchise desperately needs to do if they want to continue clinging to the draft.
