When the entire first five picks are pretty much for sale with a softly lit red light, I wonder if Jones can resist.

The Claiborne pick was just so gross. And that was a better draft than this.
I feel like the whole thing with Jerry on that was the price to trade up was relatively cheap. It's like my wife at a children's store when she see a rack of 3 dollar shirts. She can't help but buy the shit because it's a "good deal" even if it's not needed.

The fact of the matter is, the shape of this draft does not lend itself to trading up.

Even the supposed elite talent of this draft is not exactly elite.

Just because they go in the first does not make them quality.

The real nature of this shitty draft is going to be pretty weird.
I take Ekwonu or Davis in a second.

It's a strange one since they seem to have been openly talking about the possibility of trading up for the last few weeks, but then they come out and say things like they have more guys headed at the top of the 2nd than ever before.

I don't think they'll trade up but if Thibodeuax, Penning or perhaps even Davis drop to about 14-16, I wouldn't be shocked by any means.

They contradict themselves all over. Jerry even mentioned he is always throwing chum in the water. Maybe it's intentional for this time of year. Maybe it's just Jerry who loves to talk and try to sound smart. I don't know. I do believe it's a deep draft because of covid, so more picks is a good thing. So I can't see us trading up and significantly reducing our number of picks. Covid didn't help with the top picks just because those guys came out last year anyway. Guys like Parsons and Sewell declared even after sitting out. But the guys who weren't going to be top picks stayed an extra year.

Davis isn’t getting past Baltimore at 14 or Philly at 15. Maybe even Seattle at 9

HE?? a name would be great maybe some background etc..size typically isnt the ONLY skill needed to be football player. dude would need to be athletic if not he can easily be beat around the edge, double moves, and spin moves by super athletic Pass rushers nowadays..

case in point not every tall human can play NBA basketball, see Shawn Bradley, ex mavs center 7'6 but lankly and not an athletic bone in his body LOL

I can see us trading a few 5ths to move up in the 3rd or 4th round.
Usually I would but this is a uniquely deep draft. I think in the fifth we will still have guys with third/fourth round grades. So I hope we don't panic about one particular player and trade up.

So now I have heard in a couple places the Cowboys really love Drake London. Any concerns the Cowboys would move up for him? I'm good with WR but really don't want to trade up.

Various scribes predict our pick

Albert Breer, Sports Illustrated Monday Morning Quarterback

Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M

Breer says: “The time has come for Dallas to start getting younger on the offensive line, and Green is a guy who can play at multiple spots along the line, and eventually could grow into the kind of centerpiece Zack Martin has been on the interior.”

Peter King, NBC Sports Tyler

Linderbaum, C, Iowa

King says: “Tea leaves pick, because of Dallas’ love of building the offensive line [Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, Tyron Smith]; because of high regard for Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz; and because Linderbaum is rated consistently the best center and a top-20 overall prospect on many boards. Which, for a guy who plays only one position, is saying something. Linderbaum is a rock-solid center, with 35 starts at the position over the past three years. He’s a little undersized for NFL center (6-2, 298) and doesn’t have position versatility—at least not yet. But he’s a physical, competitive player with the Ferentz pedigree. Iowa turns out terrific offensive linemen.”

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports

Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M

Prisco says: “He can play inside and outside and it’s time for Dallas to address an offensive line that isn’t what it used to be. They could also look at pass rusher or receiver here.”

Matt Miller, ESPN

Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah

Miller says: “The Cowboys are a true wild card in this draft and could realistically select a wide receiver or offensive lineman here. In this mock draft, we have Jerry Jones & Co. addressing the biggest need on defense — linebacker.”

Mel Kiper, ESPN

Arnold Ebiketie, DE/OLB, Penn State

Kiper says: “I love this team-prospect pairing, especially if this many receivers have already been taken. Ebiketie can join his former Penn State teammate Micah Parsons in Dallas, and he’ll allow Parsons to stay at off-ball linebacker. [Devin] Lloyd has been a proven playmaker at Utah and has the three-down ability the Cowboys desperately need in the middle of the field. And like last year’s top pick, Micah Parsons, he is also pretty good at rushing the quarterback.”

Chad Reuter, NFL Media

Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa

Reuter says: “Dallas looks to bolster its line by trading up for the aggressive and athletic future right tackle. Penning’s experience on the left side could help if Tyron Smith misses time again in 2022 (he hasn’t played a full season since 2015). The Cowboys swap 1s and send fourth- and fifth-round picks (Nos. 129 & 178) to New England to move ahead of Green Bay, Arizona and whoever else is calling Bill Belichick about trading into this spot.”

Bucky Brooks, NFL Media

Zion Johnson, G, Boston College

Brooks says: “Fixing the offensive line will help the Cowboys’ offense regain its explosiveness.”

This is stupid. I very much disagree. If I had to rank the defensive needs it would be more like DE/Pass rusher, DT and then probably LBer. Not saying I wouldn't take Lloyd but it wouldn't be a pick based on need. DE/Pass Rusher is by far the Cowboys biggest defensive need and I think the Cowboys recognize this.

LB is a sneaky need though. Vander Esch might not even make the team if we are open to replacing him with someone to compete with Cox.
