After that draft I see no reason to lock in the fifth year. Especially with his injury history and the option year injury guaranteed.
Dude has been bad since his rookie year. It sucks, but he shouldn’t have been on our board. We need to pay attention to injury history FFS

Yep, let him play out this year, and go from there.

Not to make excuses for him but im pretty sure his play has been affected by the crap in front of him.

Injury situation is a different story.

Yeah but the 2018 season in which he was so good, the players in front of him were Maliek Collins and Antuan Woods and Tyrone Crawford as well.

A new deal? Um...what? I suppose if he plays lights out this year, it's one thing, but you just drafted several, younger healthier replacements.

If the new deal is less money and not guaranteed or protected in case he gets hurt it makes sense. Otherwise I agree with you.

I can see it. He's actually a useful player when healthy.

Just not 9 million a year useful.

We currently have a little bit of a glut of linebackers but in a year that will probably (hopefully) change. Neal is on a one year deal and may not be a full-time LB, and Jaylon will hopefully be working in a Sunglass Hut in the mall.

I'm just hopeful we will see less Jaylon now. At this point I don't think we need Jaylon or LVE so anything they give us now is gravy.

So that's where Deuce has been.

I don't think declining the option means LVE's gone next year. Even if the long-term plan was to extend him I'd rather decline the option, you can rather easily sign him to an extension averaging 8 or so per year with a 2022 cap hit that's less than half of the 9 million option.

I'd just let things play out and if he kills it over the first month or two maybe start talking, but even then they have to structure the deal in a way that you're able to get out of it easily if he retires or something.

Wasnt sure where to post this but this is random, so... I had never heard the story about Ron Wolf planning to take Herschel Walker in the fourth round for the Raiders. Starts about 34:30. Cowboys came really close to missing out on Jerry Rice AND Herschel Walker.

Secretly Jerry wishes he could pull off one last master stroke that would bring Aaron Rogers and MM back together for one last Super Bowl hurrah
