If Pitts is this transcendent all world talent, why would he make it to the tenth pick?
Well you obviously know that both talent and position matter when it comes to impact. QB, WR, DT, DE, and OT are obviously still the biggest impact positions.
We have our QB.
We are loaded at WR and the draft is crazy deep at the position.
There's no DT worth grabbing at 10, or maybe even in the 1st round.
The best DE is Paye, whom everyone seems to hate.
The best OT in Sewell, is long gone by 10
That leaves the remaining positions
Rashawn Slater at Guard, Micah Parsons at LB and Kyle Pitts at TE are the next bunch of difference makers who are clear stars and a head above the next best at their position.
I want Parsons, but he'll be gone after posting a 4.39.
That leaves Slater or Pitts.
I could see going for Slater though we already have a 1st rounder, 2nd rounder, and 3rd rounder at the position.
Pitts is clearly better than our current TEs and would change the offense while insuring against losing either Cooper or Gallup in 2022.
If Surtain was a shutdown CB and interception machine, you take him of course. But he's neither of those things, and there is depth available in the 2nd.
