After watching a bit of Hennessy and Ruiz I'm not sure there is too much of a difference between them. I think Ruiz has a way higher ceiling with his athleticism/mobility in space but his technique/balance in pass protection seems a bit unrefined, particularly his hand placement.

They aren't massive issues and can easily be cleaned up, but if we were to play a game today I don't think there'd be much of a difference between the two, although in 3 years Ruiz could easily blow past him.

Yea, I tried telling people weeks ago.
Yeah I can't find the full video of the game to go back and watch. I do note that one of his 2 sacks in that game was against a TE who initially had him blocked well but Hurts held the ball to long. The second one he basically bullrushed the LT right into the QB by getting him off balance with his speed. And then of the pressures he had in the game I know at least one came off a stunt where the right side of Oklahoma's line didn't pick up the block. I'd have to see the full game film to see him destroying the LT I guess. Oddly enough for a guy with his speed the plays he did make didn't seem to be him turning the corner at all.

For me, it's get Chaisson at pick #17 or look at another position entirely for a while. Then hope you can find one in the middle rounds.

I think the dropoff is huge.

Sure, here's the video:

As for the first sack, he got there in right about 3 seconds so I wouldn't say Hurts was holding the ball too long. I wasn't overly impressed because you expect a DE/3-4 OLB to be able to whip TE's 1-on-1 at least 75% of the time, but it was still good that he got there of course.

Anyway, these are the impressive plays I'd look at, aside from the two sacks:

Q1: 8:26 (shows discipline/recognition of backside misdirection, stays home and makes tackle for little to no gain)
Q2: 15:00 (pressure off looping stunt, went unblocked but an example of his quickness), 14:54 (crashes into the B gap seemingly as part of play design then shows very impressive change of direction to redirect from the hash and make the tackle all the way out near the sideline), 12:13 (disrupts timing of a trick play by reading smoke screen aspect and getting into passing lane), 9:17 (takes on pulling RG and disrupts timing/spacing of play, constricting the running lane for Hurts and making the play easier to make for his teammates), 8:04 (drops into coverage and chases Lamb down from behind about 20 yards downfield to make tackle in space and stop Lamb from probably gaining another 15-20 yards) 6:14 (beats LT with a quick inside swim and blows up inside zone run), 3:50 (immediate pressure off looping stunt, goes unblocked but you can see the RG turn his head as Chaisson is already by, a slower/less explosive player doesn't get through there unblocked that fast), 3:44 (impressive effort/motor to work through LT/RB double team to pressure Hurts off just a 3-man rush)
Q3: 6:56 (stands up the RB block and then takes on the pulling LT to reset the LOS/set the edge and allow the LB to scrape over the top and make a TFL, extremely impressive recognition/physicality/strength for his size, Queen gets the boxscore TFL but that play is made by Chaisson), 4:29 (blows by LT on 4th and 9, forced the LT to grab him by the shoulder pad out of desperation but it goes uncalled and Hurts runs for a TD, should've been a blatant holding call forcing them into 4th and 19)

I think that's very true for cornerbacks. After Okudah and Henderson, I think there are a bunch lumped together than one team may like more than another. I think a bunch of those guys will fly off the board in rounds 2 and 3.

And for the first time in years I'm going to sit through all 7 rounds.
I was thinking the same thing. I haven't watched all 7 rounds in years. Ever since they started that circus bullshit I just can't stomach it.
