CNN's latest mock:

21. Dallas Cowboys: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Per CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, “it looks increasingly likely [Byron Jones] will be elsewhere in 2020.” The next first-round cornerback from LSU, Fulton has the length and fluidity to be a lockdown corner.

The good vibes from his comeback from knee surgery are evaporating quickly.
Meh, what idiot puts him in coverage THREE times in a row, and one of those vs a #1 WR? Why weren't we pressuring Trubisky like ever... ugh... nevermind...

It would be just like the Cowboys to draft a corner when we have issues all over the defense.

I hope they're right but I'm afraid they're making a similar mistake I made earlier in the year where I thought it would only cost around 65M to franchise Dak in 2020 & 2021

If the language highlighted below is correct:

  • An "exclusive" franchise player must be offered a one-year contract for an amount no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position as of a date in April of the current year in which the tag will apply, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. Exclusive franchise players cannot negotiate with other teams. The player's team has all the negotiating rights to the exclusive player.
Then you have to take the top 5 QB salaries as of April 2020 which could be even higher if some QB gets a big contract but the average won't be any lower than what I showed.

I'm afraid the franchise tag cost for 2020 will be $33.6M for Dak and at 120% of 33.6M, it would be $40.32M for 2021

If they can keep Daks guarantees around 80M, then do a contract, if not, franchise him in 2020 & 2021 and keep the flexibility at that position and let the new coach decide
Well here is why they are saying 27

Fuck any corner.

We need d-lineman. Top-rated bluechip fucking get to the qbs ass players who don't give a shit about the glamour of the Dallas Cowboys.
Honestly we need a DT but I'm tired of saying it repeatedly and getting shit instead. Marinelli has to be out with Garrett right?

I'll also take a TE on the first two days as well. And oh yeah a safety.

Geez its like the same needs list year after year.

If we get a new HC and he keeps Marinelli I'll fucking lose it

Zeke has looked fat and slow for 2 seasons now. The hopeful side of me is-Last year, it was the legal troubles...this year maybe its because he missed training camp, which would give us a chance he rebounds.
The negative side of me says it could be the start of him going downhill since they ran him into the ground his first season. In that case, what a fucking waste of a first rounder and cap space.

Just execute better is like Garretts mantra. We literally do nothing on defense to confuse or outscheme anyone. It's crazy.

Has there ever been a Cowboys defense worse at creating turnovers? These guys are stunningly bad. Tied for the basement with the Lions for least interceptions in the league. It’s embarrassing.

It's scheming. If a QB knows exactly what you're doing its really hard.

This ain’t the whole story obviously but in 1989 when they went 1-15, the team got 7 interceptions all year. I don’t have any confidence they’re going to have any against McVay‘s team.
