2025 NFL Draft - 5th Round Pick - Shemar James, LB, Florida

I liked James in the 5/6 range, so I was good with the pick, but what really makes me optimistic is the track record that Eberflus and Borgonzi have with LB's. Anthony Hitchens, Damien Wilson, Zaire Franklin, Bobby Okereke, EJ Speed, Shaquille Leonard, and then in FA you have Tremaine Edmunds...

2025 NFL Draft - 5th Round Pick - Jaydon Blue, RB, Texas

I just read Brugler's write up on Blue and he did indeed lead the country in receiving TD's for a RB. Texas had a ridiculous amount of depth at the position but if he had went back for his senior year I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was a 2nd rounder in 2026. Heck, in a normal RB class he...

2025 NFL Draft - 5th Round Pick - Jaydon Blue, RB, Texas

I think between Williams, Sanders and Mafah they should be able to at least cobble together Dowdle-like production, it's just not a guarantee. One thing's for sure, our RB room going into next season is way better than it was going into 2024. Not ideal by any stretch, but it's workable if the...

2025 NFL Draft - 5th Round Pick - Jaydon Blue, RB, Texas

Of course every explosive scatback is being compared to Gibbs these days because he's the flavor of the month, but Blue's receiving ability really looks potentially special and like it could mimic what Gibbs has done. He had two downfield TD catches on wheel routes against Ohio St. in the...

I think you have to be careful what you pay him but the fact that he can also play slot makes him more valuable. I'm thinking 18-20/year is probably fair based on the contracts that were given out this year.

    2025 Draft Chatter Thread

I watched two games of Toia from last year (LSU and Indiana) and was pretty surprised at the type of first step quickness/burst that he has. I'm not sure if he was guessing on the snap count or if he noticed something that helped him get off, but there's a little something there. He'll never be...

Jameson Williams, although I'd be pretty surprised. Just sign Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper who can both operate as relatively high floor/low ceiling WR2's and hope one of these young jokers develop.

    Quick reaction Draft grades

Most of the draft media types (Brugler, Jeremiah, etc.) had our top two picks in their top 25-30 and Revel around 50-60, and I'd agree with that. I truly believe that we got two first round talents with our top two picks and I think the impact Eze could have opposite a guy like Parsons drawing...

    2025 Draft Chatter Thread

I'm guessing they view Blue similar to Pollard when they took him. Both got very few touches in college but were explosive when they did, both are change of pace guys who you pair with more physical players, both are very good receivers out of the backfield, neither was a clear bell cow coming...

2025 NFL Draft - 1st Round Pick - Tyler Booker, OG, Alabama

From an article I posted before the draft, pretty much says exactly what I posted last night about how Booker kind of got ranked based on a scheme-agnostic view given that he's not a great zone fit: Alabama guard Tyler Booker is seen as one of the surest picks among the top O-linemen. The 6-5...

    2025 Draft Chatter Thread

What do you consider feeling good? Competing for the playoffs? Sure. Being a true contender? No. But I think the running game will be fine due to the strength of our interior OL, even if the RB talent is average.

    Quick reaction Draft grades

I don't think it's a stretch to say they were similarly graded prospects. Both are very straightforward evaluations, very rarely lose reps, high floor guys who are pretty much surefire bets to be good players, both were viewed as interior prospects-only mostly although some thought Martin could...

    Quick reaction Draft grades

Yea we didn't pass up a clear cut BPA and ultimately I doubt there was much difference between grades around the league on Golden/Egbuka vs. Booker, and obviously we had a higher grade on Booker. But WR and adding explosiveness offensively was much more of a need even if I very much like...

    Quick reaction Draft grades

And that's a timestamp. At the very least I feel much better about RB than I did this time last year. It's still not a strength but I don't think it's a weakness or something that could tank our season, which was a concern last year.

    Quick reaction Draft grades

B or B+ sounds right to me, primarily because they largely ignored very obvious needs, although on the flip side they got excellent value on day 2 (in the 2nd especially) and did pretty well on day 3. If you would've told me that our day 3 haul would include Blue, James and Toia, alongside...

Yea he's worth a flier at this point, although Turpin was also kind of a legitimate offensive piece last year. Not as a centerpiece obviously, but a good WR4/gadget type.

Short list of guys I'd love to see us take here in the 7th: Jared Ivey, Brashard Smith, Tez Johnson, Nazir Stackhouse, Kaden Prather, Raheim Sanders I'm sure they'll take some rando ass CB who they hope can be our 3rd string gunner or some such instead.

I wouldn't complain about taking a flier on Ewers here in the 7th, why the hell not?

Toia is a really good pick at this stage in the game. Would've preferred Josh Farmer or Jordan Phillips in a slight trade up in the late 4/5th range but Toia should've gone at least a full round earlier. I would've been happy with him after trading up in the 5th honestly.
