I am starting to sour on Guyton the more I watch and the more I understand about his "journey".
What do you dislike about Guyton?

He's a bit raw but he looks like more of a natural LT than Tyler did coming out. I watched him against Texas, Oklahoma St. and Iowa St. and he barely lost a pass pro rep, definitely didn't give up a sack.

He's not my top choice at 24 but I'd be comfortable with the pick.

I am particular about linemen.

I would prefer one of two things, A) Killer or B) Technician.

I don't think he is either at this stage.

There is not really an edge to his game and there is not a lot of consistency.

Which is kind of funny because he was a college RT and Tyler was actually a college LT. But Guyton definitely physically looks the part of an NFL LT. What I loved most about Tyler was his freakish power though. I think he could be a probowler anywhere you put him. Guyton, he is a pure LT to me.

Yea, one thing to keep in mind is that Oklahoma's QB was left handed so they actually had Guyton protecting the blindside. His footwork is smooth so I don't think that would be an issue, but there's no way of knowing for sure.

I could see that, and it's why I actually prefer Mims, but I think there's a lot of upside with Guyton given his size and how easily he moves in pass protection.

Mims is a monster. There is just part of me that fears injury with the guy. Probably because he started so few games and when he did he got hurt. Hell he got hurt at the combine too. But gosh, I feel like beyond that he could be an absolute monster in the NFL. Fuaga might be my favorite OT in this class though. I know he might not be for everyone. Hell he might not even be a "LT" but damn he is fun to watch.

If Mims had played a full 2023 I don't think he'd even be in our range, he might even be jockeying to be the top OL taken. The injury concerns are real but I'd roll the dice on a talent like that.

I'm still working out what my OL rankings are but I think he's near the top outside of the guys who will be clearly gone (Alt, Fashanu, Fuaga, etc.). I got JPJ clearly ahead of him but after that I'm not sure.

Yeah I mean you sort of just have to trust your doctors. Sometimes you think a guy is an injury risk and he plays 10+ years in the NFL. Sometimes you see an injury risk and he ends up like LVE. Rolling the dice in the first makes me nervous. But if there isn't any chronic issues or back/neck issues I feel ok. So with Mims, I'd probably sign off unless the Georgia trainers or someone say, dude is soft when it comes to injuries. Lets face it, all NFL players through out a season have some level of "injured" but some guys can play through and perform and others sit at the first sign of a mild issue. With Mims, you just have to see what type of a person he is.

Latu on the other hand, not sure I could do it. I get the only reason he could even remotely be available at our pick is because of the injury stuff. But necks and backs I have seen play out too many times. I just don't think I could do it even if my doctors say it's ok. Once you start messing with that area of the body it's a real concern.

Yeah this is what I was kind of referring to. After the Senior Bowl most would have said he is a pipe dream at 24. Now it almost feels like that's the top of where he could go. I'd still take him in the first and do a happy dance. A lot of the "rising" and "falling" is media driven. He isn't really floating on real teams draft boards like that. None of that changes the fact that I think he is an elite center prospect. One that this team could legitimately use to upgrade the O-line.

Freaky athlete with minimal production. Could develop into a great player. To me this is a second round type guy.
He's a typical player who is over-drafted because of his athleticism and fails to live up to the draft spot.
