These numbers frighten and confuse me, so I don't bother.

I do think there is a distinct flavor that is being brewed and it is not looking good.

A Prescott 10 win season gets him a fat contract elsewhere and we might get a third.

If that is the strategy, let me just call it risky.

All I know is that this a weird dynamic that will be in place for this season.

It seems that the "stars" are going to be considered "stars" and be expected to produce.

I am not certain how that will all work out though.
Can't even threaten the franchise tag.

I think a lot of Micah's issue is just that when we're ahead other teams are passing and that's obviously when he does his damage. We all know he's not a great run player at his size.
Yeah this is way overblown. The guy can't carry the team by himself. When Dallas is trailing by a good amount Micah is sort of taken out of the game because the other teams offense is just running the ball a bunch. In close games or games where we are winning he has had a ton of huge plays. Because the other team has to pass the ball, hold the ball and all of that stuff.

Basically Micah is as good of a pass rusher as there is in the NFL. But once teams get ahead their QB is getting the ball out quick and running the ball. Those are things Micah can only impact so much.

My only real concern is what's the plan going forward with this team? We haven't even managed an extension this offseason for Dak, Parsons or Lamb. We have accomplished exactly nothing. Feels like we are leaving way too much for next offseason and it's going to blow up in our faces.

If that's the plan, try and trade Dak now and get more than a fucking third in return. Same with Lamb. And hey Parsons is only another year behind them.

Yeah. We paid Diggs and I assume we will pay Parsons. It seems dumb to throw money at Lamb for 2025 when we will have a new HC/OC/QB and ??? at LT/RB/RG. There will be other needs for that $ on offense.

After this season, Dak has two years remaining on his contract, both of which are voidable. The 2025 season's cap charge is around $40M which will count on the books whether the 2025 year is activated or voided, and the 2026 charge is $11M but only if the contract isn't voided for that year.

Nothing about the way this team operates is logical given the demented structure in place between Jerry/Stephen, so it's impossible to really deduce what's going on. With that said, my gut tells me they're too afraid to let a QB of his caliber go and they'll likely end up paying whatever they have to in order to get a deal done.

I wouldn't be surprised if this entire strange offseason was something of a negotiation tactic to show Dak he needs to work with them on the structure of a deal in order to have the sort of team he wants around him.

I know they are buffoons and invariably make these high-dollar contracts worse with their 6th dimensional chess approach, but "we're going to make no effort in FA and build a shitty, lame duck team to entice you to take less than the market amount to be its QB for years to come" is quite a strategy, even for them.

I really think this is it. And we will pay him even more next offseason as a result.

I don't think the Dak contract would be the only consideration, I think Stephen probably truly believes that salary resets/sheds like this are needed every few years, but I also would be shocked if Dak's contract wasn't at least a peripheral consideration/"benefit" in their minds at least.

If they don't restructure, I don't see him coming back next year no matter how well he does. 2024 will be one long goodbye.
Yeah, Dak will never say it but if he gets through next season with a good season, I think he may just be at a point where he says, I'll go see what other teams are willing to pay me. He has to be exhausted with the Cowboys organization.

I think Cee Dee's is also a consideration/excuse.

I don't think there's any question that Dak will be back whether he's extended / restructured or not.

Good. Let him leave. We’re in football purgatory with him.

This is an underrated problem.

We won't hire a GM. We won't hire someone more qualified to run the books than Goof Son.

Our special gross brand of cheap is really evident.
how dare you question Cap Boy's credentials?
